RPP seems to like to list the inside the fence SKUs on a bunch of their items, not just a manufacturers part number. Kind of some odd extra meta data they tend to capture and put out there

I'm not saying that people shouldn't shop around a little or whatnot, but I have to explain to far too many people why my store cannot price-match to Amazon and Ebay. (Current favorite is $85 for an Ebay Super Rock Rey)
I fully agree with this way of thinking, buy once cry once

Yep, Ebay and Amazon are full of fakes these days!

Finally stripped one of the my rigs down for a service so thought I'd dredge this thread up and compare the fake and real motors again.

First thing I did was weigh them and they're both exactly the same.

Fake with bushing on the left and real with bearing on the right

The only other thing that was different is the cover thing that has the sticker on is isn't glued down like the real one and can slide around

Like it's been mentioned, just purchase from a reputable buyer (or HH themselves if you're in the US) I'd say all the ones on Ali Express and Bangood etc are fakes at this point. eBay still has some legitimate suppliers based in the US. Do your research, ask for genuine photos etc and you'll be

Don't fook around, avoid fakes, buy direct from the man himself!

Not an option for those outside the US unfortunately due to shipping costs. Plenty of legit vendors like Amain, RPP and Asia Tees ship internationally at good rates. I've got my (legit) ones from Amain previously.

Exactly, either in CONUS or internationally, there's no excuse not to use a reputable vendors.

I'm not shocked at all. Amazon will probably make it right, but if not follow-up with bank, credit card, PayPal or however you paid.

You know what Amazon wont do ? Stop the listings or do anything to the people selling them. Same for ebay. They want that cut and don't care if they are fake.

Yes, it's my understanding that they are a licensed retailer:

Interesting... is this confirmed? I noticed on my first HH motor I didn’t know where to keep this sleeve... (apologies for the cheer-i-hole cleaning pics - they were taken as a joke months ago)

And at the back of the motor it looks like a bushing to me...

The sleeve on my Crawlmaster sport motor does not move

The back is a bushing and not a bearing.

From Amian: "bronze bushing on end bell side"

so far im only aware of the 21t 550 being knocked off. The flux rings aren't glued down on any of them. maybe just really tight on some.

No it does not come off a "ass-hat", it comes off as the truth. Far too many people look at the price and no further when buying and this allows counterfeiters to sell this junk. You MUST become an educated consumer if you don't want to get taken advantage of!

This problem is not limited to the RC hobby. A few years ago I was upgrading the ignition on my 68 Camaro and purchased an MSD 6AL ignition box which failed about 3 weeks later. I called MSD support and the first question he ask was where I purchased the unit. When I told him it came from Summit Racing there was no further question about warranty replacement. Later in the conversation I ask why he wanted to know where it came from he told me that they are seeing an increasing number of counterfeit parts flooding the market and they have started screening the calls by asking where the unit was purchased. The moral of the story is buy from a licensed dealer or a known reputable retailer. Become an educated consumer and don't just buy the cheapest price you see.
