Default Fake holmes hobbies motors?

Hi guys,
I purchased two hh trailmaster 550 sport motors off ebay.
They look pretty legit however they don't seem to have a bearing in the output of the shaft.
Looks like a bushing to me.
The package also had dark green logo not black.
Has any one heard of this before?
And the packaging for the motor should have black printing yeah?

Should definitely have a bearing on the output side. I’d ask the question in the Holmes Hobbies section on this forum and see if John has an opinion. Definitely seems “odd”.

Which seller? Is that OK to say? I was about to buy one from eBay and wouldn't mind knowing which sellers to avoid.

You can post pictures using the tapatalk app for mobile or use a free photo hosting site like Imgur (you'd upload a picture then they give you a link that you then copy into the post here)

You could try posting in this thread started by John Holmes, he checks in and answers questions from time to time Have tech questions? Will answer.

Heck just email Holmes Hobbies and they'd probably be happy to help.

I've bought both fake and legit ones off Ali Express. The only discernible difference (without cutting them open) is that the real one has a bearing on the output shaft. The packaging and stickers were the same on both I received (black writing)

Real one with a bearing on the output shaft

Fake one with a bushing

Packaging of the fake one which looks exactly like the real one I got

The next thing I'll do is weigh them when I can be bothered pulling the real one out of my Enduro....

I can see these use different SKU's, the real one uses TRMSP or HHBTMSPT(55021) (last 5 digits are the motor size and # of turns)

Fake one seems to use a different SKU, HO/1101000-46

They are selling fakes on Amazon as well. Report them to eBay. Ebay should cover the purchase and make it right for you(I think, been awhile since I've bought on there).

Sorry to see this happening. We had a little rash of motors burning out and it turns out they are all fakes. Report them, file a claim, make the sellers eat the sale. Gonna be hard to stop them, but education and using trusted vendors is the best route.

I don't know, but just buy from a reputable vendor and you'll get a real Holmes motor.

I buy from eBay all the time, but I buy from places I've used in the past and trust or places that also have legitimate stores outside of eBay.

I dont know the answer to that but the Trailmaster fakes were using a different SKU so you might check and compare those.
