Crawlmaster Pro options.

I am in two minds if my build for this year will be brushless or brushed, but either way I want the best, so I am looking of course to Holmes and the Crawlmaster Pro, but unsure which option to go with, I want 540 but what are you running in turns?
It'll be almost definitely ran on 3s exclusively, got plenty of pinions to play with, with an SCX10ii trans and TRX4 axles, all stock in terms of gearing.

A 550 can motor will give you more power if you can make it fit your chassis. Timing is a mute point IMO, since you can adjust it once you have the motor if you choose to do so. I ordered all three of my Crawlmaster Pro 550 12t motors with zero timing and no leads soldered on. I would add that the HobbyWing WP1080 is an exceptionally good ESC for $42 when paired with the CrawlMaser Pro. The CC Sidewinder 4 is a more feature rich ESC but is also about twice the price.

Depends on how fast you want to go. Those axles are half the speed of an scx10, so you may want more rpms. Anything over 2200kv go brushed puller pro. The brushless can do twice the speed of a brushed crawler motor.

Handy gearing spreadsheet

The low end on the puller pro is pretty good. They have more torque, more speed, better longevity, comparable cost to a crawlmaster pro motor too.

I had considered the 550 size motor, but knowing it's a 5 slot and 'slower' than normal, I figured the 540 might be the better option.
How do you rate your 550 12t (I assume on 3s?) with the 1080 then, all around, for low torque and some wheelspeed when needed? Also whats your gearing bud?
I planned on using the 1080 anyway, I love them to be honest.
The SV4 is also in my mind though already lol, for programming.

Not really fast but I guess I do need some wheelspeed for when moving from one location to another.
It's kinda hard to gauge really, maybe a slowish walking pace flat out would be good.

Walking speed is about 3mph which is to slow to bounce over a lot of stuff,

Use this calculator to determine your gearing, voltage and motor turns. As far as crawlmaster vs torquemaster vs puller, there all good choices for different reasons, and none is best at everything.

Yeah, perhaps a little more speed would be nice, I've wanted to try a nice brushless system for a while, but never been able to deicde, I know the actual build is a couple of months away yet as I am still collecting parts, but I want to get the electrics sorted asap.
I now have the Puller Pro 540 stubby 3300kv in my cart lol!

I'm looking at getting me one of those right now too [emoji16]

I have three Crawlmaster Pro 550 12T motors in three of my TRX4s w/9t pinions and 2 speed transmission. They will crawl as slow as I want and they will run somewhere around 10mph in high range.
