| need low speed control
ESC: HOLMES HOBBIES TORQUEMASTER BR-XL Motor: TrailMaster Sport 550 21t (1800kv) + 15 tooth kit pinion from SCX10 ii umg10 kit front axle overdriven - stock rear 3s Lipo I tried to create a very slowly arcing throttle curve so I don't hit full speed until im practically at wide open 100% throttle. I just don't have that low speed controlled movement that I need when crawling. It doesn't kick in at all until I get into the throttle a little more and I find myself getting into bashing mode to get through a lot of stuff. How can I increase low speed control for crawling? |

A bigger spur gear, or a smaller pinion gear, or both will help in giving you more control at the lower speeds. In doing the throttle curve are you doing it via the radio or esc? The esc way is preferable. |

as Druxus said, tuning the throttle curve using the esc over the radio is much preferable. drop that pinion down to around 12t and it will definitely help. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk |

On the bottom left corner of the throttle curve put a point at 0,10 that will make the car move sooner. Play with the height of the point but keep it as far left as possible __________________________ Handy gearing spreadsheet |

Like this. If it starts up abruptly lower the point on the left. It it starts at 40% throttle raise it. __________________________ Handy gearing spreadsheet |

Switching to a Crawlmaster Sport 12t & dropping to a 12t pinion should help a lot too.

Thank you for the assist. My RPP order just now: 2 of : Gens ace 3300mAh 11.1V 45C 3S Lipo Battery w/Deans Plug - 00205 1 of : Holmes Hobbies CrawlMaster Sport 550 12T Motor 1 of : Incision 12t 32p Hardened Steel Pinion Gear btw, I have been adjusting the curve using the Castlelink software, not the radio. Voodoobrew - i'll try the curve profile you show here as a starting point. mine isn't too far off, but the sweep starts a bit lower and stays lower for longer before ramping up. ill try bumping that up a bit to closer match what you show. |

I dropped in a Mamba-X and 1800kv sensored motor to achieve what you are after. I have super slow control, with very nice high end.

The curve I posted is pretty heavy IMO, I set my crawler with 80:1 gearing at least. Outdoors I find I don't need much throttle curve... Oh wait I set my controller to have a 33% and 66% and 100% speed. Kinda like an electronic 3 speed. So yea maybe that curve is good. Experiment! __________________________ Handy gearing spreadsheet |

It just removes the dead band at the bottom where you pull the trigger and nothing happens. It's different for every motor and transmitter. But a heavy curve makes it exponentially worse. On a hobbywing 1080 this is kind of a combination of initial start force (not punch) and neutral range. But the curve is set from the tx in that case because the 1080 dosent do curves. __________________________ Handy gearing spreadsheet |
