|  Esc problems I think
I recently purchased a Redcat Gen 7 pro and have had problems from the start. When I got it ,it would only run for a minute or two then shut off . I contacted Redcat and they diagnosed it as a bad esc I replaced it and now I have forward or reverse but the steering works. I tried the two other esc's a different motor and have two different receivers and transmitters . the esc has a rapid blinking led. Anyone have a solution or is there a way to reset the esc ?

Get a balance checker and check the battery cell voltage. Sounds like cutoff Hang up and Drive |

Ok I will try that but do you think both my batteries would be bad or is unbalanced battery a way related problem ?

I know nothing about Redcat. Sorry you are having problems with it. Look at the manual and determine what the blinking means.

Are you using lipo batteries? And if so, is the ESC set for lipo batteries? If the ESC is set for nimh batteries, it will act like what you've described. |

The Gen7 Pro RTR comes with a NiMH battery so the ESC probably has the "jumper cap" on the ESC on the NiMH pins. If you are using a LiPo you need to move the jumper to the LiPo pins of the ESC. When powering up the transmitter and the ESC, make sure the "Throttle Trim" on the transmitter is initially set at "0" (zero). The flashing LED and no throttle response means the ESC didn't detect the throttle neutral position when powering up. You must wait until you hear the "beeps" before touching the throttle. 1 short beep for NiMH, 2 short beeps for 2S LiPo, and 3 short beeps for 3S LiPo. After the beeps indicating the battery configuration, there will be 1 long beep to indicate the self test was successful and you are now ready to run. Just as a side note, the ESC is a re-branded Hobbywing 1040. Its an okay ESC for a RTR but I wasn't impressed with the LVC cutoff (too low IMHO), so replaced it after the initial run. |

Check that the throttle plug is not in backwards. Set steering throttle trims to center. Plug in battery. If still nothing, recalabrate esc. __________________________ Handy gearing spreadsheet |
