Hobbywing 1080

Hey guys, first time on the forum and looking for info! I bought the trx4 sport kit and ordered a 1080 and a trailmaster 21t to go with it. While watching youtube i came across a vid that showed how upping the pwm frequency to 16k made it quieter. What does pwm actually do and what if any are the drawbacks of having it so high? Seems to me you'd just crank it to the max setting and leave it but I'm sure im missing something.

First, Welcome to RCC!
As the PWM is increased the motor will run warmer. That may or may not be an issue in your rig depending on how you have your truck geared. The HH Trailmaster is not a noisy motor so increasing PWM will not make a noticeable difference. I have 5 trucks running the HW1080 and a variety of motors including Trailmasters and Crawlmasters and all run the default PWM. I never felt the need to change PMW.
