Default Reefs 555 one strong in one direction.

Any ideas why my servo is only strong while turning right? When I turn left there’s almost no strength at all.

What Rig is it on? How old what use has the servo had/seen?

Could be a link geometry issue or something inside the servo possibly.

I bought the servo in June and it’s on a trx4. I’ve only used it on this rig which I will admit I does get hard use. I opened it and didn’t see any issues with gears. I’m stumped.

The servo came with this behavior or its new behavior?
The behavior is also noticeable when the servo is not in the car?
You are sure it is not a radio setting?

There are some radios that allow you to slow down the servo speed, which can be useful with dig/2 speed/locker engagement if you have super fast servos.

Barring that, plug in a different servo and see how it behaves. Then you'll know if the servo is at fault, or something with your setup.

Just started happening and my radio endpoints and speeds are set right. I took it out yesterday to check the gears and plugged it into a different setup and it still has the same issue. I think it’s just a rare weirdo problem. I reached out to reefs.

Possibly one of the traces on the board burned up near the mosfets. some esc's can still limp on when a mosfet dies. Complete speculation though, and not something I would suggest trying to fix yourself.
Just like gear reduction helps increase torque in the drive train, shorter servo arms can increase torque in a steering system. The turn radius is increased from this but depending on the remote you can buy most or all of it back by increasing the trims. This reduces resistance and amp draw in the servo which might help in the future.

But I wouldn't say anything you did caused the problem, these servo board traces are pretty small for these high torque servos. I dont think the manufactures really know what they are doing, they pump more power at older designs which they didn't design which exposes new weak points. I dont mean to say they are stupid either, just that they are riding the coattails of somebody else's work.

Good luck on getting a replacement (no sarcasm or hidden meaning intended)

Much appreciated, they asked me to send it in to test and repair.
