Default batsafe OOS

I’m about to build my first crawler and I just picked up a LiPo from the brick and mortar.
Now I’m having the (apparently universal) “this thing is going to burn my house down as soon as my back is turned” freak out.

I’d like to get a Batsafe (or is it bat safe?) but they’re out of stock everywhere in the world.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea if they seem to get new stock pretty regularly or not.

EDIT: yes, I did message them through the contact info on their page but haven’t heard back yet. I’m trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on a mini or just wait for the standard size to come back in stock.

Buy a LiPo bag on Amazon
Buy an ammo crate from the army depot
Remove the seal from the ammo crate cover
Store the batteries in the bag and the bag in the crate.

For safe charging
Buy a quality charger
Only charge them right before the run and do it outside or on a concrete floor.
ALWAYS BALANCE CHARGE on the charger.
Use the 1C rule : 1mah capacity = 1amp on the charger
Always put them on storage mode after you are done.

NEVER USE A PUFFED OR PUNCTURED LIPO

Um....
Thanks?

None of that actually answers the question I had.

But, you know, I’ll keep it in mind.

I was looking at the Bat Safe as well. I know there are other ways to contain the flames a little cheaper, but the smoke is also something to be considered. Smoke can damage more than people realize. Anyone here using this?

I went ahead and bought a mini.

Figured I could use it regardless of whether I ever get a standard sized.

It’s one of those things... You hope to never be able to answer whether it works well or not, you know?

I was trying to explain how to handle lipos safely without that fancy pricey box.
If you don't overcharge or puncture the batteries, they will not catch fire.

I mean....
I know what you were doing.
And I suppose I can appreciate the sentiment.

It’s just not anything to do with what I was asking.
I’ve made a decision that I like the “fancy pricey box” so I was wanting to know when I could get one.

If I had asked about alternatives to the “fancy pricey box”, your response would have been spot on.

As it is, however, it’s somewhat a non-sequitor.

This Is The Correct Answer.

I have Used this exact same measure since when i was newbie 9+ years ago, the only time i've ever had a issue was when i pulled to manys amps out of a 4S in a plane and ran a 3S below 3 volts per cell in a SCT truck, both lipos puffed quickly and badly. Both were completely my fault.

Take the proper precautions and use common sense.
We take RC lipos far more seriously than any other every day batteries.
No one ever worries about thier phone batteries, laptop batteries or beard trimmers ect ect having a catastrophic battery failure when we arent around.

I looked up those boxes, im not saying they arent worth the money however i'd still take a lipo bag in a ammo can any day for that price. Your money, your prerogative.
Just my 2 cents.

Cool, cool

So...

Again, not actually answering the question of “do you happen to know when the things may be back in stock”

Look....

I understand that some people here may look on a product like the Bat-Safe as unnecessary or superfluous or whatever.

let me make it clear here: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IN THIS THREAD.

The ONLY thing I’m interested in, in this thread, is information about when this product might be available again.

you’re assuming i haven’t done any homework before asking this question and then call me stupid.

that’s insulting.

i’ll thank you to not make assumptions about me or my understanding of the situation.

i asked a question.
it was responded to with things that were not pertinent to the subject raised.
my “standard” is to answer the question asked.

what the **** does facebook have anything to do with this?

Don’t insult the guy, he knows what he wants and was asking for info.

These kind of responses are what makes new guys not come here.

Hey that's my title!

Welcome to the site. As a newbie, I just want to tell you to not be offended so easily. You need to have thicker skin on this site. And if you give attitude you're going to get it.

How would somebody on this site know when they are going to be back in stock? For that you should just contact the manufacturer like you did. If they don't answer then I'd take my money elsewhere. In this case I would take my money elsewhere anyway because Bat Safes are a waste of money like Mike said. Do you put your cellphone and laptop in a Bat Safe every night? Li-Ion batteries used in those devices are also volatile. Remember the Samsung debacle from a few years ago?
