Hobbywing WP 880 motor limits

I am currently running a Hobbywing WP 1080 in my Clodbuster. 21 turn motors, with 14 tooth pinions (all I had), 6 cell nimh battery and 2.2 wheels and tires..No heat issues with this setup. I am looking to maybe run 3s lipos at times and am concerned the 1080 won't handle it so I am looking at the 880. The motor limit chart for the 880 is as follows:

Motor Limit Brushed Motor Limit with 2S LiPo /6S NiMH: ≥ 12T or RPM<30000@7.4V (540, 550 Size Motors)
Brushed Motor Limit with 3S LiPo /9S NiMH: ≥ 18T or RPM<20000@7.4V (540, 550 Size Motors)
Brushed Motor Limit with 4S LiPo /12S NiMH: ≥ 24T or RPM<15000@7.4V (540, 550 Size Motors)

Does anyone know is this for one motor or 2? Thanks

It says that with 3s lipo youre good with any motor 18 turns and above!

Yes, but is that one 18 turn motor or 2. The chart doesn't specify.

Thanks

I thought the 880 was a dual motor esc, right? That should mean 2x18t motors are able to be run off that esc. I went with the 860 aa the 880 wasn't out yet.

Actually more voltage can make the esc run cooler. If you up the voltage and reduce the pinion. The esc will not need as many amps. It's amps that makes heat not voltage. Also simple things like lowering the punch can help with Temps also.

Some of that applies to the motor more then the esc I suppose.

I hope so. I finally brightened up and emailed Hobbywing. Hopefully will hear from them soon. Thanks for your response.

Voodoobrew thanks for the information.

I got an answer from Hobbywing, the list is for single motors. For dual motors, double the turns. So no advantage for me to change my esc. I will take Voodoobrew's advice and drop pinion size.
