If you read through the thread posed by Durok you'll see that EddieO called it snake oil and states that these work like crap and to get a com lathe.

Keep in mind EddieO is from Team Brood and is quite the motor expert.

Ceramic polishing stones will work, a bit pricey for RC motors.....

I use one of those Pink erasers. Cleans and polishes in one operation.

I didn't even know you could still buy those. I still have mine from at least ten years ago. It doesn't get used much anymore.

Re: Commutator Cleaner

Way back in my racing days I had and still have a comm cleaner. I can't remember which brand it was, but on one end was a square comm cleaner that fit into to the brush housing and the other end was a round brush cleaner.

I ended up doing what Inspector86 mentioned. I cut a pink eraser to fit in the brush housing. It works great and cleans the comm really well.

When I get home from work today, I'll post a pic of the comm cleaner and see if there is a name on it. It is 30 years old, so it may be discontinued now.

A pink magic eraser is basically the same thing.... for a couple of bucks cut one down to fit into the brush hood.

If you want the actual comm sticks made for RC, they are just molded to fit cratex.... buy a cratex stick and cut it down to size...reddish color was the most common along with green and dark blue grits. The yellowish brown color, light blue and grey were used as well.

It is more of bandaid than anything... will kinda get you running again in a pinch but does not typically last long before the comm yucks up again.

Later EddieO
