The 2290 is a beast, but this one appears to be waterproof. This one also appears to accept more voltage and it gives you more power!

Good find!

Only Savox I admit to owning. It resides in Opie , my 11.5 lb Wraith. So far it’s the only servo to survive!

900 at 8.4 is a brute. I wonder how close their ratings are.

Francis from RC Review should put this on his test system.
It shows the real world torque pulled.

What I can easily say is I replaced a Holmes SHV with the 2290 after multiple failures (torn gears) and it’s still running 2years later

I emailed Savox a year and a half ago and they wrote back confirming that it was within the design parameters to run the 2290sg on 8.4v, they just hadn't published any specs stating it. I've been running it on 8-8.4v ever since with no issues. It looks like they have now updated their site to show specs at 8.4v, so the only difference between the "old" 2290sg and the new 2290sg-be is the waterproofing (and a few bucks.)

The published 902oz of torque explains why I can't tell much, if any, difference between the 2290 and the 1027oz (at 7.4v) of my Futaba A700, both solid, but I'd just go with another 2290 if I were doing it over again. I'm about due for a new case (mounted behind my front axle so the case gets drug over rocks and is getting pretty thin) on mine, so I'm hoping the waterproof case set (I'm assuming it's got o-ring grooves machined into it?) will fit, and be available soon.

Damn... 10.5amps at 8.4v at stall. If you were at stall for very long you could melt your servo plug. They are only rated for a few amps continuous. Honestly at that power level they should have just made the servo take pack voltages like HH's servo does. To run that properly you need a hella beefy BEC, even our normal CCBEC can't keep up with that. You would need a BEC Pro or BEC 2.0 just to power that thing.

Love my 2290s. Match them with a BEC 2.0 and they'll break fingers if you're not careful.

10a will brown out, 2.0 14a works great.

Wish they'd spend some R+d on making them quieter. My 2290 is constant

For turning the tires from side to side. Not all of us drive small obstacles on flat ground. I've used the power of a 2290 to free my rig from a crevasse by tossing the rig after a few left & right wiggles.

So lets's exaggerate the servo arm to be 2 inches. That means the servo can lift/push 450 oz. That's 28 POUNDS! Of course that's exaggerating the servo arm to be 2 inches. Anything less will only make that 28 pounds larger.

We really need more than that for our 1/10 purposes?

Yes IF you run large 2.2 tires , have a heavy rig , and want to pop it out of crevices. DLux also makes a geared up version as a add on for super comps.

900 ounce inches is 56.25 pound inches. these specs cant be compared directly to pounds

I like that move!

Going to have to try it!

Is there a specific servo horn you run for handling that type of use?

I got a chuckle when I saw your hat.

Thanks

ETA - Anyone have any ideas why more companies don’t offer direct power servos. Seems like it would make for simpler solutions by eliminating the need for good esc and/or a bec to run a higher output.

Is it just that the rc segment that would use these too small to justify production?
