Default SCX24 jerky/slow in reverse

I picked up an SCX24 the other day. It ran fine for a while but now it is slow/jerky in reverse. Reminds me of a surging engine. Still has full power forward, have tried multiple charged batteries. Seems like it's going from 1/4 to full power in reverse for just a moment then back to 1/4.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?

Mine does exactly the same thing I bought because of the dual aux outputs but think I might be replacing it sooner rather than later
