Default Boom goes the Savox!

Savox SA-1230SG

Purchased on August 3rd, on Sept 16th i noticed it was shaking after a backyard run.

Axial Bomber with a brushless Tekin 3100 in it

Not sure what i did but the center shaft is bent, front case broke, and the first large reduction is definitely worn in pretty well.

Warranty won't cover anything, not impressed with Savox Customer Service or the warranty at all.

Not even worth the 40$ to fix it up

Think I'm going to order a "Model T" from ServoAF as a replacement

Here's a video of the original issue; https://youtu.be/7K37v_UrhaM

I've done that to a couple Savoxs over the years. Like you, discovered the "warranty" is useless and they weren't worth the cost to repair because a set of pins, gears, and upper case are almost 85% the cost of a new servo.

With your brushless bomber your going to need a fully aluminum cased servo to survive long term. Servos are really a buy once cry once type of deal.

I've discovered over the years that you can get away with cheap motors, esc's, radios, and even lipos. Not so with servos, especially on a rig with solid links, large tires, sharp steering and locked diffs. I'll pony up the $100 for a Promodeler 470 that goes in a truck that has less than that in the entire rest of the electronics.

I’ll recommend the EcoPower WP120T. It has a metal casing and has right around 400oz of torque for $70 on AMain. I’m using it on my TRX4 with metal horn and it’s great

Liking the pin diameter and gear layout on that Mode T, but I don't want to be the Guinea pig. You should put a whooping on it and let us know if it holds up.

Is it brushless?

Yes it is brushless. Here's the whole gear set

There's a video on youtube explaining all the differences

Yeah they look great, they don't have a lot of information because they are so new

Only thing holding me back is it's a V1, which means if there are any kinks they haven't been worked out yet

But the videos and facebook info look promising

If I get one I'll definitely write up a review

Wow thats crazy, I have broken plenty of servos but never split a case in half! Good job at total destruction!

Met the owner through Facebook

Personally, I'm just glad it looks good. Simple build/body

A lot of the 100+$ servos are extremely gaudy

That Savox looks like it went through a house fire!
