| BEC to REDUCE voltage
I have electronics capable of 7.4v EXCEPT for my dig servo. I am already using a tap into my battery for voltage telemetry. Is it possible to run 7.4 volts from the ESC to the receiver, but use a BEC between the receiver and dig servo to step down the voltage to 6v? i think that may keep the wiring a bit simpler than a y harness for the battery tap and another harness for the steering servo.

Yes use an external BEC and a Holmes RX BYPASS adapter. https://holmeshobbies.com/holmes-hob...s-adapter.html Not sure how more wiring simplifies things though. Usually used to run a higher voltage to the servo than the rx likes, should work perfectly for your needs. Hang up and Drive Last edited by mikemcE; 09-19-2020 at 09:28 PM. |

with current wiring i would need to run two splitters to up-volt the steering servo vs adding a pass-through signal wire to the bec to down-volt the dig servo. actaully, with a little more research turns out the 1080 internal BEC will only put out 3A. Savox can pull up to 7.4A. looks like ill need more complicated wiring. Last edited by splyn; 09-19-2020 at 10:23 PM. |

That'll work, all I'd do is drop the Bec voltage on the esc to an acceptable level for the dig servo then use the Bec to power the servo through a bypass adapter. I build my own but holmes are solid too.

i build my own too, but it usually comes out like a rats nest. im getting better though...

got it all wired up last night. removed shrink wrap from the Castle BEC and shortened the wires, made a split Y to handle the servo and connection to receiver and shrink wrapped, added a second tap to the battery plug and finally shrink wrapped the BEC and pinched the ends together using waterproof shrink wrap. seems water "resistent" enough to splash through some puddles. both shrink wrapped bundles are zip tied to the bulk head. it actually came out cleaner than i had thought it would! has anyone else noticed the BEC not putting out the stated voltage? i tested the voltage coming out of the BEC with my multimeter and the voltage was consistently .08v lower than what the BEC was set at. is this a safety feature? |

.08v is within allowable tolerance I suspect, and I can’t imagine any issues with it Hang up and Drive |

no. i dont expect issues. definately better than 6v and i suspect its a good thing not to live at the limit of my servos voltage rating.
