Default Hw1080 quick question

Says it’s rated on 3s for a motor no less than 16t. Is that rating for 3 slots and it would be ok running a 13t 5 slot?

Running 3s with a 12t 550 can and, if memory serves me, a 16 tooth pinion without issue in my 1080 equipped Ascender.

The turn limit is a poor attempt to limit amp draw, because amps cause heat. If nothing gets hot you're fine.

A large 16 turn pinion is also increasing your amp draw and temps. Just fyi

That makes sense on why they said that now. Current gearing is stock 13 pinion 56 spur but I have a set of 9 through 12 tooth pinions to get it dialed in once it arrives.

Alright, got the new esc installed and tried to get it started before I swapped transmitters too. Went into program mode where it beeps on repeat until you set the neutral position. It did that fine but when I went to set the full throttle forward it wouldn’t do the 2 beeps no matter how many times I hit the set button. It would link it in reverse though. Set reverse on the 2 beeps and forward on the 3 beeps then swapped my motor cables but now all the programming is backwards. Like if I set #1 on the programming card it to fwd/brk I have only reverse. So I decided to swap in my new sky fly gtb3 and it’s doing the exact same thing.

Faulty unit or operator....?

The 1080 does this on flysky systems sometimes. Don’t know why. You have to reverse your transmitter. Ive got one doing this doesn’t matter how many receivers I swop out.

It did the same thing on the stock tactic radio too. I will try reversing it though

So the 1080 can be fussy about the throttle direction on a couple of different radios systems?

Yeah mine did that as well on my new TRX4 Sport Kit build. I had to put my radio in reverse, then calibrate the esc, then after that put the radio back into normal. Kind of odd but it works. Once you get the setting dialed in on the WP1080 it is a great esc though. Glad you got it working.

I run the HW1080 with a HH Crawlmaster Pro 550 12t, 9t pinion. It is my go to setup in three different TRX4 based trucks.
