Default Circuit board turned into switch?

Hey guys, does anyone know if it’ll be possible to turn this circuit board from an old drone radio into an on/off switch for my trailer lights? It’s got quite a bit of switched and buttons, and figured it would be perfect if it worked. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I’m not too good with this kind of stuff.

Using a new photo website, please let me know if there too big or too small.

The pics are too small to see whats there but if theres a toggle switch you could use that if you're okay having to physically switch it on and off. You would just cut one wire on the lights (negative or positive works) and splice in the switch.

Or an old servo control board can be used to create a switch that can be toggled from your radio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pzT...ature=youtu.be

Light switch from a servo

Yeah, sorry about them being small. I’ll see if i can get them bigger.

There is a 2 position toggle and a 3 position toggle, and about 10 button switches. I took the 2 position off and am playing with it now. I think I have it working, but I may just use an old servo board.

Thanks for the video link and thread link!

If I do use the servo method, Can I control it from my TQi, or do I need a new radio?

EDIT: I’m kind of confused on how he got the board and motor out, I can’t get mine out for nothing.

EDIT 2: I got the board out of the servo that doesn’t have a wire, figures, but I’m going to try my original idea and go from there.

I like the servo mod! You can probably measure the resistance on the potentiometer (potenti-O-meter as he says) and replace with one or more resistor to make it more compact too.

You can also buy a board for like $10.

You actually don't even need to bother matching the resistance although every servo I've ever checked was 5k ohm. As long as the resistors are more than 2.5k ohms and matched so that they balance each other. It's not a bad thing to do it, but don't go out and buy more resistors if you don't need to.

The pots in servos are just measuring voltage differential so the resistance isn't particularly important as long they match they'll tell the board that they're in the centered position.

The servo should have 3 places (s,+,-, just like a servo lead) for the pot to connect, put on resistor from s to + and the other from - to + and you're set..

The math behind it if anyone cares:

Vpot=R2/(R1+R2)*Vsupply

Or you can buy the right switch that plugs right in the the receiver and the lights then just use a extra channel on the controller to turn them on or off there only about $3 or just put a switch in line and turn it on and off manually

That’s exactly what I’m doing

I haven’t messed with it for a few days since I’ve been so busy with work, but I’ll be back on it soon and give y’all an update

Personally I use "The Clapper" to turn my lights on and off. Way better burning and extra channel.

In theory we could rig it up to take voice commands too.
