Set up the blheli32 to rampup power 130,low rpm PP off, sine modulation on, motor timing 22degrees and pmw on auto and you will see how slow and silent that thing will go ! It depends on the motor though....I wouldnt recommend a kv higher than 2500 on 3s lipo. And you have to put some capacitators on the main power connection. In the UK you can easily get a flycolor x 50amp or a turnigy multistar 51A.

I will have to check these settings out. I don't think I ever turned low rpm pp off. And I turned rampup power down to see slower speeds on the bench.

The sinewave start did nothing that I could see. Which I was expecting would be obvious like with am32.

The startup is not as low with blheli as with am32.

Also check out the APD quad esc's they look thicker and would probably handle the heat better. Especially that 120a one it has giant mosfets. But you can't currently lod am32 on them.

This is a $12 esc running blheli32 firmware, all blheli esc's can do this.

I am considering use one of the esc that I failed to convert to AM32 (it's an iFlight 80A, with a ruined swc and swd pad due to my rookie mistake) for my trailing rig which currently run an SW4 with Tenshock 1750kv 6 pole inrunner non-sensored motor. Will it need a specific settings different since it will be connected to the 6 pole inrunner?

I don't know much about blheli32 honestly. I don't think it asks about pole count.

Just try it out. Check the mountains post. He shared a link with blheli settings that he said work well.

Thank you for your response, the reason I asked because in the AM32 configurator there is an option for the motor poles, whereby in BLHeli_32 Suite there is none. Just want to make sure it is safe to run my 6 pole inrunner with the BLHeli_32.

Always watch the Temps on any new build, this is nothing different.

The problem was the esc used a different mcu. The g071 mcu is compatible but unlocks different. More info soon.

I switched to these settings on my IFlight 55a ESC and it has introduced a 'jerking' effect on startup that was not there with the previous settings. I'm wondering if this is motor timing so am going to switch back and test again..

Ok so having changed a couple of the settings its not the motor timing its the rampup power set to 130%. Having set it back to 40% I've noticed it is actually still doing it just a lot less pronounced so I didn't even notice the behaviour the first time I tested it. So the question is, do you know what the benefit of having the rampup set to 130%, more power at low throttle?

There is almost no torque on low throttle with 40% rampup. To what did you set up your timing ?

I set the motor timing to auto. I'm doing this testing with a Holmes Hobbies Snubnose V2 1800kv. Going to try it on a Turnigy SK3 3536 1400kv as well

Auto on timing isnt the best idea in a crawler ..I run a 2040Kv snubnose on it and had it first on 35% Rampup......the car would barely made it over my foot.so I changed to the settings from one of our club members as above and what a difference it made.
Since the weekend I try a iflight with AM32 and until now I am happy...gets a bit hot though.

Thanks for the link will have to work my way through that series! Would you recommend going to the AM32? So far I am impressed with the BLHeli performance and not sure the risk of bricking my esc is worth the upgrade.

Not all of the ESCs perform the same. The settings will vary.

Well I have to admit that I joined the AM32 club ....and its a whole different level I got a flashed iflight on my HH snubnose and its ridiculous...way worth the effort.. Still think a blheli32 esc is a good and cheap way....would recommend it to all who want to try though.

Just watched the rampup video and I don't know how that would impact being able to crawl over your foot. It's not limiting the power your motor has available its just limiting how much you can change throttle?

Most of my testing happens on a bench with just a motor and no vehicle.

On the bench what I noticed you get from a lower rampup is a lower initial startup speed.

Raising the rampup increases the minimum speed.

It seems like the lower speed has much less torque. But with different rampups at the same rpm I don't think the torque is any different.

Regardless of these settings, blheli cannot drive the motor as slow or with as much low end torque as am32.

Which to me, is what crawling is all about.
