| Reedy or Holmes for my Capra?
I'm trying to figure out if changing my motor will help at all with my Capra before I get fed up and just go brushless, lol. I'm currently running a Holmes Crawlmaster sport 16T and while it does have great low speed control it seems to be lacking torque and drag brake. I've read the Expert version is vastly better and I've also seen the Reedy Radon 2 16T which is another rebuildable 5 slot 540 motor. All suggestions are welcome! My question is, do I? A. Stick with my HH Crawlmaster sport. B. Get the Crawlmaster Expert. C. Get the Reedy Radon 2. D. They all suck just go brushless. |

I dont own a Capra but I do know they're geared a bit higher than most crawlers so that alone is gonna reduce torque and the drag brake strength. Check out the Revolvers if you want the best torque and drag brake. |

| Re: Reedy or Holmes for my Capra? They are geared high for sure, I did drop it down to an 11t pinion and that helps a bit. I also do like the revolver and but it's so loud. lol

Theres a new ESC that solves the noise issue, though its not what I'd call fully done yet (programming software is still coming). New Holmes Hobbies ESC spotted: Crawlmaster Mini V1 |

Yeah, that whole thing is a mess still...I think he released that too early for sure.

If the Capra would accept a 550 size brushed motor (in stock form) that would be a great option, but that’s not the case. I run a Holmes V2 2200kv Revolver in mine, paired with a Mamba X esc and 11 tooth pinion and it’s perfect. Noisy, of course, but not as bad as I expected. Surprisingly, my UMG10 running a V2 2500kv Revolver Snubnose/Castle Mamba Micro X Crawler Ed is noticeably louder (higher pitched). Torque, low speed control, and drag brake with these are incredible and will hold the vehicle in place anywhere as long as there’s traction. The Holmes Puller Pro motors, both standard and stubby are beast motors as well. Have those in other rigs.

I had a Capra at one point. There is a reason I know no longer own one. Personally I found the thing to be a pain to deal, it was one issue after another. That being said, go brushless and bash the crop out of it. Sent from my SM-N981U using Tapatalk |

I definitely wish the Capra could use a 550 can but it’s such a hassle. At this point I might just put the same combo I have in my TRX4 because I really like it. Castle Copperhead and Holmes Puller Pro Stubby I definitely hear you on it being a bit of a pain with some issues but honestly I’m not really mad at it, my biggest gripe is probably just the gearing. |

A good brushed motor will perform very well, depending on you application it may be the right answer. The sport you have is an entry level $15-20 motor. Don't judge all brushed motors off that one. The brushless in theory will last longer and longer battery life. A high ended brushed motor will perform very well for what it is designed for but for the most part a brushless is the easy answer for an RC you want to have more driving options. |

Just an update, I ended up going Holmes Torquemaster expert 30T and it’s been really great so far. Like the name states, its got heaps of Torque. Very satisfied for $50.
