NSDRC RS800V2 vs RS500B?

Hello! Getting back into the swing of things and these servos have my attention. I'm looking to build a rig off the VS4-10 Phoenix straight axle kit. On my OG SCX10 it still has the stock steering 6V servo to the rx config. Looking to abandon that ship. Would like one of these nice servos in-line to the battery proper. Aiming at building a Class 1 local crawler.

To the question: does a casual crawler only looking to do local scale events need the RS800V2? I can tell you right off the bat, just doing in-line with the RS500B is going to probably blow my hair back. Curious of peoples' thoughts on what seem to be 2 excellent servos for steering.

Thanks!

Unless you think you need a thousand ounces for turning your Class 1s, the RS500 is probably plenty. Now if you're not running 4S, I don't really recommend the 500-- there are plenty of servos out there that will give you more speed and/or power for the same money on 3S (like the Flash Hobby 60kg from Amazon.) The RS800 is a great servo, but I use mine for steering duties on a TRX-6-- I don't think I have a servo above 35kg on any of my Class 1s.

Much obliged! I run a 2S on my current rig. I can't imagine running beyond 3S going into this next generation. I'm gunna check out the Flash Hobby stats for that 11.1v and compare to the RS500. Cheers!

RS500B ~370oz @11.1v
Or
https://a.co/d/fJzCwbO ~1900oz @11.1v

Are my guestimates accurate-ish?

Ok 1 more question. For those C1 you have, do you use 2S or 3S lipo? I think that may help drive the servo decision and the brushless vs brushed decision. Thanks!

I use 3S in most of my rigs, with a handful on 4S. I don't run 2S at all.

From my testing, the Flash Hobby 60kg is an absolute "best buy" servo. Nothing is making more torque at 3S (it will average around 800oz) for anywhere near that price. I have 4 of them.

Re: NSDRC RS800V2 vs RS500B?

I currently have a 500B in my Class 1 Comp truck, Leaf sprung scx10.2 based truck (In addition to 3 or 4 others in various trucks). It has a Hobbywing fusion so its limited to a 3s pack but I run 850mah 3s packs through it all day long on comp days. The 500B has no issues positioning the truck where I need it to go, and of course you can stall it out but I have yet to find I need more power than it can produce. I have a RS800V2 in another trail truck and its an absolute beast but also seeming not as fast on 3s as the 500B. The other option if you were limited on space, the RS700, a great servo on 3S and Hilarius on 4S its in my C2 Rig.
