Bec melted esc wires

Bought an old first gen emaxx needing a servo, went with a reefs 444. It was glitching out the esc so I ordered a hobby wing 10a bec. Got everything soldered up, red wire disconnect from the esc, power everything on and in 10 seconds it’s smoking the black wire on the esc. Esc plugged into ch2, bec to ch5/batt. What’s going on here?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cf50b32dc3.jpg

i cant see a thing can you shrink the pic alittle bit

ok i loaded the pic on a new page im not sure if you had that power wire wraped up when it hapend but it kinda looks like the res wire touched something and shorted out

ive had that happen a few times some times you can replace the ground wire and it will work fine sometimes its a goner

its also posable the reciver is shot i had one that was bad out of the box and it also ate the ground wire

also i had a brand new servo do that it had a internal short so when i pluged it in poof by by esc ground wire

Using the phone app, sorry about the pictures. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e4b97c12c4.jpg

Stock servo worked, just was extremely weak and slow. Put the reefs in and it worked just with the brown outs. Truck drove before so I don’t think there was any pre existing shorts. Definitely didn’t let the disconnected red wire touch anything. Just stumped, simply added the bec and black wire on the esc started smoking. No other wires hot. I can still turn on the bec and run the servo. Plug in the esc and it starts warming up that black wire.

i see traxxaassss printed on some of your electronics that is with out a dought the problem

buy electronics that dont say traxxaasss on them and everything will work fine
thats probably why the servo and bec still work lol

my first rule when dealing with traxxass electronics is

never hook up a battery to them

next rule

never try to run anyone elses rig that has traxxasss electronics

follow those 2 rules and you will really enjoy traxxasss

Traxxas electronics work just fine. Ain't anything special but better than any other rtr electronics. But you have something wired up wrong.

Well I went and got a servo extension today, I’ll solder it on and see what happens. Can you see anything that might be wired wrong? Traxxas receiver will be swapped out for a fly sky as soon as it comes in, wanting to get the shift servo going and the traxxas radio is only 2 channel.

see rule #1 above

Another option would be to make a servo bypass and run the servo off of the bec and the esc powers the receiver.
They are easy to make out of a y-harness. Just pull the red wire out of the side that will plug into the receiver and your done.
Bec plugs in one side and the servo the other.
