Default Tell me about ESC's

I have read everything about ESC's that I can find on this site, however I am still torn as to what to upgrade to. I have a duratrax that is completely UN-adjustable however it seems to be doing a decent job with my 55t's I am not using the BEC and have a 5 cell rx pack instead. I am a computer guy so I really like the Mamba Max as far as customization, however I don't want to go brushless or run two esc's at this time. Will a MM run two 55t's with the same wiring setup as current? and will I still have to use an RX pack or not? Maybe this is not the esc for me. any other suggestions like tekin? Thanks guys.

The Mamba Maxx is the ESC for everyone. The mamba max as no problems running two motors. How many servo's and which ones are you running? My guess is that you don't need a RX pack.

I just wanted to make sure. I am running two 1/4 scale servos. It would be nice not to have to run an RX pack if I don't have to.... I am running an 8 cell ib1400 custom batt.

Any tips on dialing this thing in with the software? There is so much range, but what are good settings for crawling? Also, do any of you with this esc run an rx pack? I have an 8 cell custom batt from cheapbatterypacks and 2 1/4 scale servos. it would be nice to only have to charge one thing...:-P

Mamba max has a 3 amp bec, less when you run more voltage. You most likely will need a reciever pack or a regulator. Griz has a nice thread going in electronis right now about the MPI regulator.

Not sure what you mean... I unsoldered the old esc and then soldered up the mamba excluding the white wire for a brushless motor. Resoldered the deans to the power wires and it works like a champ....once I changed the motor type to brushed.

I believe so...its wired from esc to back motor(top connections) then the bottom connections of the rear motor to the front motor. :-P I didn't change anything from the previous setup.

how do you run the brushless esc with BRUSHED motors?
what do you do with the 3rd motor lead? wireing diagram?

also do (all)brushless esc's have reverse? how does that work. ( planes and helis dont reverse)

The Mamba Max has the capability to run a brushed or brushless motor. You simply have to choose which one you are running in the programming. As for the third wire, just wind it up if your using a brushed motor. Most brushless ESC's dont have reverse from what I have seen, right now theres a chosen few, half dozen I have seen anyway, that have reverse.
