Plus, the manual says for non warrantee repair its only $50 if it does ever die. You buy a max, you won't run anything else ever again on a crawler | |

| I run the wheelchair @ the comps on 12 cells.... Alot of people run 8 or more cells on supers these days... I plan on running my Hyperion Brushless 3025 through some thick earth. I would take SOME kind of precaution to keep the grit out of the motor. Brushless or brushed, The grit is no good. The water is no problem. Small grains of sand can chip the protective covering of the armature wire and eventually lead to a short. Now thats true in any motor. But how likely is it to happen? it all depends... I had a set of 750 motors on my emaxx. I ran it through the river in Moab, then onto the sand dunes, then through any mud I could find. Those motors still run to this day but the bushings are torched. there were many time the mud was actually jammed into the motor from a crash. I had to pick it out with a screwdriver best I could then a set of packs through it! I would think a brushless would fair better in the mud then a brushed, But its too much money for even me to just dunk in the muck. I was thinking of a soda bottle around the motor for the Mudboggin.... not water tight but dirt wise. I think the bearing are replaceable if something ever did happen though. I can't resist the mud... |

| I'm of the opinion that some cheap silver cans are the way to go for mudding. Maybe tape up the vents and you are good to go |

| yep, it runs brushed too. I also feel that cheap silver cans are best for mudding and general crap flinging. Much easier on my wallet to ruin a $6 motor than an $80 one. |

| Well i will run the brushed but just for kicks is it safe to put say a dryer sheet around a mamba max motor to keep out the grit?Or can you just put it in a ballon for a run?Are the brushless motors able to stand the water with no grit? We all know that it will get tried |

| A dryer sheet? I suppose it would be like a filter of sorts, huh? Well, with a brushless motor (inrunners, at least) there aren't really any vents around the side of the can you would have to worry about. I would be more concerned with water and debris infiltrating the mounting holes, or the seams where the endbells match up to the can. You could maybe tape/seal those areas up if you like. Personally, I'd be okay with running a brushless in wet conditions (wet grass, some snow, maybe a little mud, etc.) with the proper precautions, but I'm still not sure I'd dunk it. That's just me, though. If you feel a bit more adventurous, let us know how it all holds up. Also, to answer your question - I have seen a Mamba run completely submerged in a glass of tap water before. So it seems that water may not be detrimental (as long as you follow proper after-care), but as you said, getting grit and dirt in there is what you'll want to avoid.
