Default Mamba Max configuration problems

I did a little searching around and found some problems that are sort of similar to mine but were usually resolved by things I have already tried. I realize this is not a rock crawling specific question but I figure the electonics people here would be able to help me out so here goes...

I bought a new mamba max 5700 combo that is for one of my stadium trucks. I am running a XS3/rs300 TX/RX combo and a 6 cell IB4200 back that I had cheapbatterypacks.com build. I cannot get the ESC to set my thottle/brake endpoints. I plug in a fully charged battery/hold down the throttle all the way, and turn on the esc. Everything lights up but it never beeps signalling the throttle is set. The weird thing is my steering works, perfectly. Anybody seen this problem before?

In addition to the above I installed the castle link software on my laptop and hooked up the USB line. I did upgrade to the latest software version and installed the phoenix link usb drivers. The software can read what the settings are on the Mamba Max but cannot update or write to the mamba max. I keep getting an error telling me to unplug and then replug in the usb.

Any help is appreciated.

The throttle and brake EPA on your radio needs to be between 100 and 120 when you are setting up the Mamba Max. That is the most common thing I've run into when setting it up.

Thanks, I actually had tried that already and it still didn't work. Next I setup a tq3 tx/rx combo and the esc still doesn't work. I test with a known good IB battery and still nothing.

I called tower today because I thing the ESC is DOA and they said I needed to go through castle creations for the warranty. WTF, this is only 3 weeks old and new. Castle of course is closed now for the weekend.

The speedcontrol plays its tones through the motor, did you have that plugged in?

Does it light up?

Stupid question.. You aren't trying to do this with the esc turned on and a battery pack hooked up are you?

You'll want the esc turned off when you hook up the cable to your laptop, you're usb cable will supply the power to the esc.

The speedo lights up but no tones. Also I didn't have the battery plugged in when I used the usb software. I think I just got a bad ESC.

A few things to try:

Be sure your radio is set to neutral, with no trim adjustment on the throttle channel.

Try reversing the throttle channel.

Reboot your computer. If that doesnt allow you to load settings to your ESC, then you might have a bad ESC. I had a bit of trouble with the newest update too. Once I restarted my computer it went away.
