It depends on how much money you want to spend. Any 2 channel radio will do fine. An AM radio will do just fine because your not running your car more then 20 feet from you. You can pick up an am radio super cheap too. But if you want you could get a lower end 3 channel FM radio like the Hitec aggressor. You wont need a digital radio with all kinds of special settings that were designed for racing. A simple radio will do just fine for a rock crawler.

I am a fan of the JR XR3. Digital yet simple. 3 channels and models. 3rd channel can be Linear, toggled or disabled. Great radio for the price.

I'm using the HiTec Agressor CRX for my TXT and it works great...I have it set up so that I can make the truck 4WS and 2WS quite fast (it is not just the flick of a switch, I have to acess the meny but that doesn't take that long, ~2-3 sec)...great value...

I also use the Hitec Aggressor CRX and think its great. Simple to use and does everything I need. DCLXVI, I assume you set up 2 different models and switch between the 2. You can just drive in the programing mode all the time that way you can switch it with one button. I also setup a model for crab steer and rear only steer as well to increase my options, change the model name to what it's set as (4ws, Crab etc) and it tells you on the screen which mode your in. I had a 3pk but chose this control over it because it was more comfortable to use and has all the important functions of the 3pk anyway and was less than half the price if you include the digital servos you have to buy to use the 3pk properly.

Hmmm...haven't though about that...well I fried my ESC (water in the case, shorted some FET's) the other day so I'll guess that I'll have to wait awhile to try it...

Could you use a 4 channel radio such as the Futaba 4VWD http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXBCP2**&P=7 I know you wouldn't have the "steering wheel" but wouldn't it give you full control of the rear steer without having to switch profiles?

I was thinking you could use one stick (probably the right one) to steer the front. Then use the other: up & down for foward and reverse and left & right for the rear steer. I figured it would take some (maybe a lot of getting use to.
