| twitching, and servo getting hot
i was wondering if anyone out there can help me with my problem. i am running a 11.1 v 3 cell lipo, with a teking fxr and a 10 amp 4.8-9v bec wich is at factory settings. i am using the bec for my jr ds 8711 servo. when i power up the servo it twitches and gets hot. does any one have any idea on how i can stop the twitching and the heat. i am wondering if the bec is not putting out the right voltage. any help would be great.

Just in case you were unaware. To program the BEC you will need the castle link. i think it is 20 and comes with a small modulator to plug the BEC into and then outputs to a USB. The software is included. | |

| OK, I'm considering adding a BEC to my rig. I'm running a Sidewinder on 2S (may go 3S in future) with a Traxxas 2.4 TQ 3ch radio. So, my understanding of the above diagram is this: You run the power leads from the BEC directly to the power leads from the battery, bypassing the ESC. The signal lead from the servo is plugged into the receiver. I'm guessing this is good because the power doesn't need to go through the ESC and Rx prior to getting to the servo? And this will supply a constant supply of power to the servo, depending on the voltage that you set it at? With my setup, running 2S, would you recommend setting at 6V? Thanks for any input/verification. |

6v is a great place to start. You are correct in that the servo power does not have to go through the RX this way, it is preferred for many high power setups.

Is it worth going to the new 20 bec or will the 10a be more the sufficiant. I have a 35kg savox servo for steering with a goat running a 3s in my venom creeper will be trying to do comps if I can find some in the brisbane area. Also i got the 5a bec with the goat should i use that for the dig and diff locking servo's ? cheers doug |

Hey I have a problem that hopefully someone can pinpoint really easily for me. I have just installed a CCBEC set at 6Vdc. With the car sitting on a block of wood, tires nuder no load I am able to (using the radio) steer while giving it throttle without any problems. When I try to steer while holding the vehicle in place and giving it throttle, I lose all ability to steer. ( sounds like voltage drop to me) I am just backyard bashing, so am running stock 27T motor, 3000mah NiMH batt. ESC is Duratrax Streak, and steering servo is Hitec HS-645mg. Anybody got any answers. BEC is wired according to J Trojan's original wiring diagram.

Sounds like voltage drop to me too. What radio are you using, and how old is your pack?

Hey my radio is an old Airtronics Rival, and the pack is prob. two years old but works just fine without the CC bec. I'm going to dbl. check my wiring but am pretty sure it's wired correctly. Could the hobby shop not have set the voltage correctly?? Would this give me the same condition, and are the Bec's preset from the factory at any particuler voltage?? Thanks for the reply..

I forgot to say it has a horrible glitch when under throttle as well since installing the CC bec.

I got almost the same problem i'm ready to crawl but when i turn system on everithing is ok than the dig servo wil go through switching phase than when i put gas ax10 moves a bit then the steering servo twitches and after all this tekin fxr all light will start to flush!!! using the same diagram as above battery pack Brand new 3S ,bec set at 6.4v sterring servo 7950 dig servo 5245.i'm going nuts now. I did bind properly, calibrate radio properly and calibrate esc as well.now this issue. Can anyone help me out. Thanks Last edited by cliffhanger007; 12-03-2010 at 06:19 PM. |

Hello, I'm considering to buy a CC BEC, BUT what make me wait is the price of the CC Link... It's th same price as the BEC, and as it seems we only need it once to regulate the BEC at the right voltage and the it stend there for nothing... So my question is do I really need that money consuming device...?? |

So I use NiHh 7.2V 4200mAh. What would be the "correct" voltage for using that BEC on my 2 servos? |

The BEC has voltage drop around 1.5v, so no matter what you can't get more than 1.5v less than pack. 6v would be good enough. If you want more you will need more battery voltage.

And if the spec of my servos are: Supply voltage: 6.0V Stall Torque: 17kg.cm http://www.servodatabase.com/servo/power-hd/hd-1501mg Do I really need to change the stock BEC voltage...? As said in the spec at: 4.8V I would have 15.5kg/cm 6V I would have17kg/cm So at the stock voltage of 5.1V, I would be at around 16kg/cm and I would be really satified with that. Is it right or wrong?? Last edited by Big Pitt; 12-06-2010 at 03:17 PM. |

| 1 BEC and 2 SERVOS
Hello, So I have 2 servos on my Redcat RS10 and 1 CC BEC and I would like to know if the changes that I've made on that diagram are the right one before doing anny wrong soldering. There is the FRont and Rear servos plugs on the reciever and I use only the yelows (orange) wire. Then I create a "Y" to link the red and black wire from my BEC to each servos. Am I right?? |

Juat wanted to say I figured out my problem, hopefully this will help someone else. I failed to read the part about keeping it as far away form the Rx as possible...I had mine stuck right to the side of my Rx. Huge glitch problem solved...DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE! Voltage was set correct @6V dc from my LHS. Thanks for the help JRH.
