Couple Questions about Lipo's I'm getting a new mini boat, and the only packs i can use in it are Lipo(because of the weight). The company recommends a 3 cell pack. And from there I'm lost, with the C, burst, etc. I will be running this motor, a 400 Df outrunner(2600 KV 18 amps continuous) with a Castle Phoenix 25 esc(this combo will make it a 50+mph boat). So i need a lipo pack and charger but dont want to spend an arm and a leg on it. Can anyone help me out. Or does anyone have any ideas on regular cells that are small and light http://milehighrc.com/images/outrun/4009.JPG http://www.castlecreations.com/products/phoenix-25.html |

Well I have found out that this is the pack that everyone likes using with those boats http://www.electrifly.com/batteries/gpmp0823-lg.jpg Now I just need a cheap charger, since this will be my only boat with lipo's, I don't need anything fancy. And if your curious this is what I'm getting here it is http://www.bizingo.com/m/Renegade%20...0534CF4812.JPG |
those are not bad batteries. i run them in my 1/18 scale stuff. they hold a good charge and have alot of high output. just like any lipo. what price range are you wanting to spend on a charger. and keep in mind these things can blow up if not taken care of. |

I would recommend a charger that balances too. Are you ok with waiting 3 hours for a charge, or would you want something faster? |

ahh yes, that would explain the seperate charging plug that is only two wires. What is your budget for a lipo charger? $60, $30? |

thats kinda diffucult if you are into othe rc that uses sub c etc.. get an ice charger it charges everything and discharges to!!! |
I already have a Peak charger i use for my other boat packs, and car packs. Maybe I can sell that and put the money towards a multiuse charger. Might either go with this http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMRH8&P=0 or this http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...9&cat=7&page=1 |
I got a triton JR and I love it. Charges everything. And very small. |
heres a good link.... if you just need a lipo charger there's a couple on the bottom of the page the run in your price range http://cheapbatterypacks.com/main.as...chrg&scat=LIPO but if i was you i would get the hyperion!! its an awesome charger and very small and compact!!!"thumbsup" |
Any of the chargers mentioned would work well and be easy to use too. I actually have one of the 535 thunder power chargers now and they are pretty awesome for the size. Just three buttons for everything, but they only charge lipo. |

Ok then it looks lie i need to get rid of my piranha, and get a Triton. |
I would recommend against the triton, and go with any of the other 4 button chargers or the triton jr. instead. I found that the scroll wheel played out and got hard to use over time on the triton, making it very hard to dial in the correct parameters. On top of that the wheel is also the select/enter button, so it gets even more use. |

15C peak sounds a bit weak for that brushess.... we run 25C peak batt and 35C esc on our helis for basic 3D but a boat probly doest spike like a heli do a hard - to + pitch or cyclic change |
The maximum discharge of the pack is 18.75 amps, the motor only draws between 12-15amps depending on the prop. And the Esc can deliver 25 amps. |
