| ***WARNING*** Solder Flux FUME is Hazardous to Helth
As many of you are new to handle the soldering irons, I need to mention about this warning that is very serious and it's a must do to prevent the after effect that may occur to the human body. http://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owad...RDS&p_id=10642 http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/mdhs/pdfs/mdhs83.pdf Page 20 .... http://www.phys.keele.ac.uk/Handbook...ndbook0405.pdf In case you need to know more details about soldering and how to, follow this link. http://www.prideservice.com/pdf/Diag...csoldering.pdf http://www.glass.nalinaart.com/soldering1.html . |

I don't have a PDF reader.. I saw the lead warning though.. Are you serious? Paint used to have lead. Gas had lead. Everything had lead! Most people were fine.. |

As for the fumes... I've breathed in acid core solder. Didn't hurt much. Not reccomended, but I'm not too worried ;)

Who uses acid core for rc stuff? If I remember right, most manufacturers say to only use rosin core, which is what I use.......good old Radio Shack 60/40 or whatever on a giant spool.

Well, no matter what kind of soldering you do, it's not like you hover an inch off your work just so you can suck in those glorius fumes.........at least I don't. ;)

i recently ruined about 400 bucks worth of subwoofers with flux. i was soldering the speaker wires to the leads and somehow dripped a tad and it rolled down the cone and onto the surrounds. ate big ol nasty holes in them that werent noticable until a couple days later... so dont pull a hoopty, keep that flux off the surrounds kids!!! |
