Lightbulb Quark pro car 22a/33a with 5s lipo?

Hello,

Happy to find out there was a forum dedicated for crawlers. Hi all, this is my virginal post

Now has anyone tried 5s lipo with Quark pro car 22a/33a? Does it make any difference over 3s? (the manual says upto 5 lipo cells and I assume it means 5s but afraid to try it myself )

My next question is, well actually i am soliciting your honest opinion on Quark pro car 22a/33a compared to other escs. Especially on cogging issue at startup and quick direction reversing.

Thank you in advance for your xpert advice and have a great day

That 5s is going to be way too much wheel speed on pretty much any brushless motor you're going to use.

I've not tried my quark 33 with 5s, given that it got hot for me on 8 nimh cells, I wouldn't try 5s lipo.

Also most if not all of the 5s lipo's are going to be way to big! Like this.
There are a few others on this page and they sre pretty big, I know a few people that use a big lipo's in their supers but for a 2.2 with quark 33 and brushless it would be way to much.

As far as the cogging goes the quark is the smoothest I have seen.

How about the reverse delay though? Mamba fairs better?

Mambas have zero reverse delay, the Quark can only be dialed down to a .2 sec reverse delay. It ain't bad, but in my experiences, it can be a pain in some tricky situations.

The quark has more incedence of reverse startup, they also cog when geared too high. As far as the 5s situation, I have tried mine on 4s many times with no ill effect. You will need to replace the BEC with an external one.

I like them, but hate to program them.

What application is this for?

I would say that low speed control is lightyears ahead of the current MM controler - but keep in mind, there's a patch coming for the MM. As far as batteries, my 3s is all kinds of plenty of power in my 2.2
