Default mamba max just jerks....

I set up my mamba max as the directions describe and it just jerks when I pull the trigger. What is wrong? The setup is a dx3, MM, 55t, 7 AAs.

Make sure the motor setting is not on Brushless. Check that first.

Yes, they come in brushless mode. Luckily you have batteries that wont push many amps, or you could have fried some things!

When i get to that part of the setup it doesn't give me the option. Its like it leaves the setup at #8 (motor timing) and i don't get to access #9 (motor type)

That doesn't sound right. What version of the Castle link are you using, or are you doing it manually?

I'm doing manually because i don't feel like spending $200 on windows right now when this is all i would use it for.

I suggest you find somebody with windows, a friend or the LHS. I dont think you can adjust motor type manually. If you have no friends or a LHS, I would do it for you.

the manual really makes it seems like you can change it manually... they tell you how. when I'm programming this thing it will randomly arm itself and leave the setup mode. why is that?

You can do it manually, I did the first time I used it as it did the same thing to me, but something doesn't sound right on your mamba.

Then you might not be doing it fast enough. I have never tried manual programming.

If you cant get it to complete the setup, you could try reflashing the ESC with the firmware. That still requires a windows computer.

Programed it on a windows machine and it works great now. The drag brake and no reverse delay make all the difference in the world.
