Official Novak Crawler Products Thread Hey guys, I just wanted to create a thread so that we could try to consolodate as much information possible in one place so that you don't have to go searching through 10 different threads in an effort to find the information you're looking for. Charlie and I will do our best to check in here from time to time, but I strongly urge you to email or call us with your questions for the fastest response! we have one of the new novak brushed rooster crawlers. NO matter how we program our radios and we have tried different radios and motor combinations it always is lurchy running forward and smooth as silk running in reverse. I was able to dial out some of the issues with radio trim but its still 2 times smoother in reverse than forward. any thoughts |
Steve, thanks for your customer support, all i have had are good experinces with your products from a long time ago, and the only one time i needed my first crawler system upgraded, well charlie took great care of me"thumbsup", so right now i have 2 new goats waiting to go on my super tuber and i will post all my findings. |
I installed my new rooster crawler esc this evening, i am having the same problem rockwerks is having with his smooth in reverse very glitchy in foward. Yes i have installed the capacitors, any suggestions.:) |

I have even tried standing my antenna straight up with no improvement.:-( |
Here is a picture of my setup."thumbsup" |
I'm assuming you guys have set the servo reversing on throttle to normal, EPAs to 100%, and set the throttle sub-trim to 0, then set the throttle trim to 0 before programming... ...and have you checked to make sure that the motor timing is set to 0 degrees? |

yes sir all done many times. The only way I can get it to work is with the throttle epa set into the - range and still is not smooth |
Kind of figured you had done so...just wasn't sure about pebble pounder. |
I am having the same problem with my rooster crawler. It also likes to unload/glitch about every 5-6 minutes. |

Yep. When I try to crawl, it just lurches/unloads/glitches for a second. Sucks when you are on a sidehill or touchy spot. |

I am having all kinds of electical probs. I had to take my M8 off my rigs and put in AM units I had. No epa unless I crack em open. I do have an FM Mx-3 that I am gonna put in one of my rigs tomorrow. Thanks for the tip. The rooster rocks and has awesome drag brake, it just likes to glitch every now and then. |

Regarding the different speeds in reverse and forwards, I know you set the timing to zero, but did you set it with an ampmeter or just by the marks on the can? Also, if your brush hoods are not aligned to center you wont be able to get a true zero timing. |

Good deal. I know that most of us crawlers dont go as far as aligning the hood. That takes the motor out of the equation for sure, especially since you have tried multiples. |
