Default BEC hookup with 2 ESCs on clod

I got my castle bec in a few days ago and wondered if anyone had a diagram on how to hook one up on a clod with 2 ESCs. Do I need to unplug the power wire on both ESCs?

What RX do you have, and do you still have the on/off switches intact on your ESCs?

The RX is just a traxxas. I do still have a on/off switch on one on them.

You can just keep the ESCs turned off when you have the BEC on. It will power them and the RX too. Do you have the ESCs on a parallel harness?

Here is what I did on my Dual ESC set up...

Plug the BEC into the Batt on the RX...

Remove the Red wire from the ESC Plugs. You can just pull them out and Tape them to the others if you ever need to put them back for some reason.

Now wire the Pos and Neg wires on the BEC into the same place you have your ESC's wired together at.

Then I have an On/Off switch on my Mamba Max's... I just cut mine off and shorted them out.

Way too complicated. If you run a Y-harness, when you turn one ESC on, it will power up the other. If you run them in different RX channels, when you turn one ESC on, it will power up the other. If you run a RX pack, when you turn it on, it will power up both ESCs. There's no need at all to change wires around or short switches or unplug anything. As long as you only have one device, ESC 1, ESC2 or RX pack switched on at any given time, then both ESCs will function properly and you'll have no problems.

This is a very good explanation of the simplest way to wire it up.

My ESCs are hardwired on. I have to remove the red rx wires to use the BEC effectively. While more complicated, it is the only option for guys that hate on/off switches.

This is true, though it is also worth noting that many manufacturers will void the warranty if you remove the switch and hardwire it. While that won't effect everyone, it should be kept in mind when choosing how to wire your car.

This isn't the case with my rig. I run 2 mamba maxxes, and if I don't turn them both on then they both won't work.

Also if you only turn on 1 esc, you don't get both bec's. With the mamba max and 25 you have to remove the red wite as they will not work unless the on switch is on.

That's interesting. Every other ESC I've played with (and that would be most of them through the years) works fine with the switch off if you have a RX pack. Generally, all the switch does is activate a circuit that sends battery power to the red wire which activates the primary circuit to operate the ESC, so if the red wire is getting power from the RX, it turns on the ESC the exact same way the switch does. Evidently, Castle does it differently. Figures they'd do that, their aircraft ESCs don't have switches at all, they're active anytime the main pack is plugged in, which makes it a real pain in the *** on some low wings planes where you need to remove the wing to access the plug.

The castle controllers are no different than any other. If you plugged an RX pack in, the ESC would boot up from the power.
