Default Charger Qs, yes i searched

Ok, right now I have a tekin 112c that charges my nicads just fine. but i want to charge nimh and my tekin needs to be updated to do it. the cost is $50 plus shipping which would put me in for around $75-$80 total.

I searched and found lots of stuff on the superbrain, but to much bad to go with the good and it dont have the features i want. I like the Duratrax ice, but adding the dc power supply puts me way over what i want to spend. I want something that can charge nimh without fear of overcharge and possibly charge rx and tx packs. TX isnt that big of deal, but doing rx would be nice since i have some new nimh packs for my maxx. discharge would be nice too. problem is i want all the features my tekin has and then some.

I have been looking at the duratrax intellipeak digital pulse. they are dirt cheap on ebay. anyone think this would be a good charger? i dont race so pro features are not a big deal. I wish i could do an ice.

anyways, let me know what your opinions are on chargers around $100-$125 range. Maybe i should just send my tekin in....

if your willing to spend $100-$125 for a new charger why don't you just send in your tekin for the upgrade?you already have one of the best chargers made with the features you want.you may be disapointed with any thing less

thats a good idea. if you can charge with a 112c and power a 112a and charge with the 112a at the same time, a 112 should be able to power an ice. never thought about it that way.

It might limit the capabilities of the Ice depending on how many amps the 112c can put out but it should work for most applications. A 15amp supply is recommended for the Ice but that amount of amps is only used for large packs and sometimes the motor run. It will at least get you buy until you can get another supply.

112c puts out 12 amps dc.
i never really charge that high. my 2000mah matched batteries i charge @ 1.5c or 3amps and I have never had a reason to charge any higher. so if I had a 3300 pack that would be 4.95 amps. the 112c should be able to power the ice if using a low current charge like 5 amps. or atleast i think it should. i might have to try it.

With 12 amps you shouldn't have any problems at all. With 6 cells at 5 amps the pack should peak under 10 volts so you will be under 5 amps for the entire charge. Unless you get some 10 cell packs and try to charge them at 8 amps, the 112c will be perfect. I run 4 chargers, all at 5 amps, off my 30 amp supply all the time with no problems.
