could it be something wrong with the charger or the type of charger you are using?

Do they keep false peaking? If so, just keep reseting the charger, until the batteries are warm.

NiMh batteries false constantly if they've never been charged, or haven't been used in a while.

Just keep reseting the charger, or try a lower amperage charge.

Try completely discharging them, and then recharging them at the lowest charging rate possible.

What charger are you using? On my Intellipeak digital, the batteries buzz. It's normal. And you need to define " they won't take a charge at all". Does a light come on on the charger when you plug them in? Does it start a charge then stop however many minutes later?

NIMH batts can be stubborn when there new but shouldn't be this bad. If Tower won't take them back you could take them apart and see if there is a short somewhere in the assembly. I've talked to Pro-Match quite a bit on the noise that batteries make and this is caused by the venting of the batteries and should not happen very often. If it does they indicated that it was a bad cell. I've had a stubborn pack like this before and it takes a good charger to cycle it in order to find the bad cells. Once I located and replaced it the pack woke right up. The only bad thing is that it takes a charger that will cycle. :-(

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

I'm not sponsored by Pro-Match so this is just my own experience working with them, but if I ever have a bad pack or cell they replace it no questions asked. There prices are very competitive and there great to work with.
