Default 3A External Switchable Speed Controller BEC and LIPOs

3A External Switchable Speed Controller BEC (on ebay - 280163982770)

I have just received the above item and installed it on my truck, This has solved the problem I had before (Not enough amps to servo from ESC), I now get 3A instead of 1A.

My question is regarding the use of the LRP speedo (83010) and new external BEC with lipo batteries. Because I am using the external BEC, can I use a 11.1V lipo to power my truck although the speedo is only sposed to run at 7.2V?

And before anyone asks, I have searched but couldnt find anything directly related to my question. But hey if I get flamed, I get flamed!

No. The speedo is still only rated at 6 cells, but could maybe get away with 7. 11.1 is too much.

True, but the ebay listing says:

"This 3A switchable, external speed controller BEC is easy to install and operate and safely converts the high voltage from your battery pack to a steady voltage so that you can use it, stress-free, with your gyros, receivers and servos."

Does that not mean I can run higher voltage? Or does it mean if I run high voltage?

Sorry for the noobness and lack of searching skills but I thought forums were a place were you can ask questions???!!!???

I GOT FLAMED!!
