Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies 1 Attachment(s) I picked up an Enduro today from Meadow Ridge Trains and Hobbies in Taos Missouri. So far, the box looks cool :ror: It comes with a 16t five slot motor. Now there is a lot of people just finding out that 5 slot motors are a thing. Only been handwinding them for 8 years now :lmao: But who are we kidding, crawling is just a fad, right? I'll be releasing $15 and $20 5 slot motors later this year to fill out the price points in the CrawlMaster lineup. First impressions, this rig is going to be in the top 3 RTR rigs if there isn't some unforseen problem. As to drivetrain, I've heard John Schultz has been brushless beating on one for over 6 months now. |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies Good to hear leading lights rating the rig. Loving mine so far. Yes the motor is a revelation to me, but, I've only been crawling here in the UK for a couple of years. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...eb6f4ea3_b.jpg64744715_2349091961976213_8254465390978007040_n by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies like like and more like. Keep the motors coming. |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies I'm fairly new to RC. What is special about a "5 slot motor" and why should I care? |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies I look forward to seeing your video review! |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies oh this is gonna be good... rkj to answer your question: basically its a much smoother motor with more "pick-up points" for spinning the magnets. think of an axle with 2 flaps, and bushes that would charge +/- to "turn" the axle. the more flaps, the easier and smoother it would be, right? most motors have 4. the new AE radon has 5, as well as the ones John here has been building (excellently, i might add!). https://www.associatedelectrics.com/...crawler_motors |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies Basically smoother start up, slightly less torque. But it's holmes hobbies less torque so still more torque [emoji14] Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the explanation. |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies JRH, Pull a few markers and make a few calls.... We need a Section for this Enduro! |

Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies Quote:
5 slot (done right) is smoother starting and more controllable in situations where it really counts. 3 slot (most every other hobby motor) is rougher starting but has higher torque density. Thus, why my brushed motor lines are Crawlmaster (5 slot) and TorqueMaster (3 slot). TrailMaster is also 3 slot, but low cost version more tuned for looooong service life to match people driving these huge 5000mah 3s packs. |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies Tomorrow I'm shooting vids. Had 5 other vids on deck, now they all get a back seat for this rig. |
Re: Element Enduro @ Holmes Hobbies Looking forward to it and seeing what you do to this rig!! keep up the great work John!! |
