topher goes Full Sendero 1 Attachment(s) After selling a couple rigs this week I was finally able to bring one of these home. SRDLV out here opened their doors up on a holiday for me to come by and pick up this truck. Way cool of them to do that "thumbsup". They’re definitely going to get a lot more of my business in the future. What do you do when you have the same truck as hundreds of others? You take the same picture as them and post it on RCC. Going to read through your builds and start tinkering before an event this weekend. First up will be tucking the bumpers in, seeing if the ssd brass hubs fit the wheels, and adding the optional overdrive gears. Not sure about paint yet but this may need to be my first foray into painting the exterior of the body. Can’t wait to get it out on some rocks |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Congrats! Hey, that looks just like mine...and everybody else’s![emoji23] That’s cool SRDLV did that. They are some great people. I’ve bought my scale license plates from them in the past. Can’t wait to see how you decide to paint it. It will be my first time too painting the outside of the body. I have no idea on paint yet. There are a lot of nice ones out there, I think I’ll go two tone because the body has great lines for it. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with too "thumbsup" Started tinkering, installed the OD gears, aluminum servo horn, and tucked/trimmed the bumpers. I thought about changing out the esc but noticed this one has a 6v 3amp bec which is decent for stock, so I’m going to keep it in for a bit instead of jumping into a hw1080 right away. After looking it over I had to tighten the front shock/panhard mount as it was loose and causing a lot of flex. Added more grease to the transmission gears as there wasn’t much in there when I cracked it open. Haven’t gotten into the axles yet but everything seems fine and rolls smooth. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Your Enduro body looks so pristine LOL! Man... a couple of weeks, and mine looks beat. It's even got creases like bending sheet metal. Maybe that's what Element was going for with this body? :lmao: I wish they had a "hard" version of the body though. I really like the cab design. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Best unboxing pic yet! SSD just confirmed the hubs fit in the original thread. |

I just got done swapping the hubs and they do fit, with a couple “but”s Two things of note: the hardware that comes with the rtr wheels/hubs has different thread spacing. However, the ssd hardware is the same size and fits. The only downer here is since I only did the front, now the hardware on my front and rear wheels doesn’t match. Second, the ssd brass hubs have a slight offset compared to the enduro rtr hubs. Because of this the scale hub caps that they include will no longer have enough thread left to bite. So now my hubs in front and back don’t match either. Thinking I’ll bite the bullet and just get new wheels. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Raises the question... Who makes low offset brass slw hubs? Good to know about the thread pitch difference though. Thanks! |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero 1 Attachment(s) Late night in the garage, getting her ready for her first run at the SRDLV Battle for a Cause event out here :badger: |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero 1 Attachment(s) New suit for the truck. Took all night but got it all done and also installed fenders and a new servo. Not much light in here as it’s 6am out here now, but I’ll have more pics after this morning’s event. |

Re: topher goes Full Sendero Dude that looks amazing! Well done!!! |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero I approve of that paint combo! ;) What paints did you use? Looks great and chrome trim looks excellent as well. Really brings out the old school flavor you did. Hope to see some vid from the event! |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Well done. Looks awesome! |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Very nice job on the paint, I like it! I'm still waiting for my kit, and should have parts to try a offset front tomorrow. You guys are doing a great job posting up what you're doing to your trucks! Thanks! "thumbsup" Ernie |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Sweet paint scheme! That really changed the look of that truck. The more i see wat everybodys doin to this truck, the more im leanin towards one myself. Cant wait to see some vids of it in its natural habitat lol Sent from my SM-J327VPP using Tapatalk |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero It's amazing what a little paint can do!!! looks great!!! |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero 1 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the kind comments. The paint is Rustoleum high performance enamel. For prep I masked, stripped the decals, scrubbed with scotch brite pad, washed gently with simple green and water, laid down 3 light coats of plastic adhesive promoter, then did the light coat x 3, masked the two tone, and did the dark coat x 3, masked the bed, and hit it with rustoleum bed liner. Pretty happy with the outcome, especially for being the first go of it. The paint held up relatively well, ran 200 gates and 3 abbreviated comp exhibition courses. It took some nicks that would have held up better had it had time to properly cure but I had it out on the rocks less than 3 hours from being done spraying. The gray underneath made for a nice ‘steel’ effect. May hit the dark coat again for touch ups and let it cure properly. Chrome was done with a molotow pen. I’ll need to deal with the wheel wells as they keep the cab from sitting as low as it did without them, by a hair. I got a lot of video and some pics from this morning, I’ll post some up later today but I need a nap first. Here’s one in the wild for now. The truck did great but I’ll let the video speak for itself once it’s posted. Nothing too crazy but for stock save for wheels/vp disc weights/amazon servo, I was impressed. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Id love to go do some charity comps just for the cause n for some good ol fun. Cant wait to see the vid n more pics! Cant get overhow well that paint cmeoutn how good it looks now Sent from my SM-J327VPP using Tapatalk |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Did anyone feel like it needed a touch more anti-squat? I have the brackets to raise the rear upper links but the motor sits back a little too far to make it simple. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero 4 Attachment(s) Few more pics from today and one at the very end with some battle scars. No video yet, so much footage to go through  Traildawg keep us posted if you do anything with those rear uppers |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Those pics turned out great!"thumbsup" Wheels look right at home with that paint job! Can't wait to see the video! Oh and I forgot to tell you last week, Happy Birthday!;-) |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Excellent color scheme. It adds a lot to the appearance over the RTR color. |

Re: topher goes Full Sendero I've been avoiding all Sendero threads... especially this one. Trying to figure out how much Ramen I'd have to eat before being able to cash in my grocery bucks for Sendero bucks. Paint looks great as others have said. Rig looks fantastic with that particular two tone scheme and wheels. You've really got a good eye for what works and you just nailed it again. Going back to lurk in the shadows for now. Cheers! |

Re: topher goes Full Sendero 6 Attachment(s) I was finally able to get the video up from this weekend, not too much technical crawling as usual but tried to get a little bit of all the different trucks I got footage of in there. Good times were had. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0Fe16GQIfNs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Edit* I don’t think the embed is working in this subforum, link below... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fe16GQIfNs |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Every single video of yours I watch I can’t help but be amazed at how your builds just flat perform. Good work |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Enjoyable thread TB. I agree with above sentiments, your paint work beautifully compliments the Senduro body lines. Nice selection of pics as well. That ugly looking group of Banditos look to have had a great day (-; |

Re: topher goes Full Sendero Thats pretty awesome you're able to gather such a big group together, looks like it was a really good time. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero You’re Sendero looks awesome. The terrain out there is amazing. We have boulders and more boulders. On the plus side we have lots of shade. Quote:
My Sendero is a few days old. What’s wrong with Ramen? Embrace the suck! Enjoy the Ramen and the new Sendero. |

@ TrailDawg, did you notice any improvements with your rear link risers? nice design. |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero Huh... How did I miss this build? (got pointed to it by a comment by DukeMinnix) Awesome paint, silver grille and chrome 8-hole wheels make it a retro trail rig beyond comparison... Dang! "thumbsup" |
Re: topher goes Full Sendero 6 Attachment(s) Got around to getting the Proline Classic interior installed and it’s a nice fit but also leaves a bit of a gap behind the bench seat and the back of the cab. Nothing too major and a little spare lexan and inside the cab painting could fix. Also repainted the outside of the body so I can give it a chance to cure properly before trailing again. I really wanted to find a Fall Guy action figure for the driver but it’s proven to be a difficult task. Still on the hunt. Hopper in the driver’s seat for now. I despise taking interior pics, but below are the best I could come up with Quote:
