The start of my weighted offset axles. "thumbsup"

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...3-IMG_1551.jpg

Still in pieces, can't do to much more until I get my kit. I can machine some offset unis. "thumbsup"

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...4-IMG_1553.jpg

This is as clean as my shop usually gets, and the last time you will see this clean for a while! "thumbsup"

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...1-IMG_1557.jpg

And the closest thing you will see to a unboxing from me. (they are not one of my favorites!

Re: Codyboy's Enduro making it my own, 46 PW

Just a little caveat when building your shocks. When your bleeding them make sure you lube the o-ring at the top of the shock body, it is really easy to have it pinch out when tightening the shock cap. When I get the cap turned down to the o-ring I twist the cap a little both ways to be sure the ring is captured into the cap. It would be really easy to tear the rubber and ruin it. "thumbsup"

On to the axles, I had these Yeah Racing chubs in my stock and so I thought I would try them. Went on and tightened up very nice on the stock (hard) axle. They are just a little tighter than the SSD chubs and I don't think they will come loose.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...1-IMG_1569.jpg

I also clearance the unis for a few more degrees of steering.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...2-IMG_1571.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...3-IMG_1572.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...4-IMG_1573.jpg

And the rear is done too.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...5-IMG_1574.jpg

A little update on fitting the body and Cage build. ;-)

Did a little trimming to get it down a little lower.

Ok all caught up to where I am today.

All for now guys, maybe more later today. ;-)"thumbsup"

Those are the Yeah racing chubs and they tightened right up on the stock axle and a perfect fit on the knuckles."thumbsup"

I like the lowered look, and the cutdown fenders!

And, as per usual - axle wizardry from Cody the Grey... (j/k!)

Thank you young man! But, that is the last time you will see it in the shinny Rootbeer brown!

That is the look I'm trying for! Trying to keep the COG down as much as I can. The cage won't help, but I didn't want to do a plastic one. "thumbsup"
I want to run it a little before I ad the new weighted axle, which it's self is still a work in progress. Pretty sure I have it all figured out, just a matter of taking it from my head to the work bench!

Ok, now to what I worked on today. The paint on the front fenders of the 46 were chipping really bad so decided to make lemon aid out of the situation. I like doing a rusty patina paint job so this is the look I'm working towards now. I took a red graining cloth and denatured alcohol and started scuffing the outside of the body.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...1-IMG_1624.jpg

At the same time I wanted to paint the cage for the old girl. This is a process that I've been using for several years to paint my metal work. I didn't come up with the idea of heat treating my paint but one of the few using my BBQ I bet. Because of health issues Marcia and I don't eat meat of any kind so this is the only use the BBQ gets!!!! BY the way I use engine paint that is rated for at least 500 degees of heat. 40 minutes at 450, and then I start turning down the heat and cooling it for another 15 minutes. I think it is almost as tuff as powder coating!"thumbsup"

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...2-IMG_1626.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...3-IMG_1627.jpg

Going to let the body rust for a day, rework the surface a little and then seal it.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...4-IMG_1629.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...5-IMG_1630.jpg

All for today guys, thanks for input and looking! "thumbsup"

Did you find that body sitting out in a field somewhere?? Nice job on that rust bucket so far!

Nice looking cage work!"thumbsup" Thanks for sharing the BBQ grill tip. That is a great idea that I might have to try. Just so happens I have an old grill that has been waiting to go to the scrapyard. Time to get it fired back up!

Build is looking great so far! Can't wait to see how the rusty body turns out!:)

Thanks, like I said earlier, "cage building is one of my favorite challenges in a new build"!

It works really nice, mine has a thermometer built into it so it makes temp monitoring a snap. "thumbsup"

Yeah that new shiny paint looks great

I take it that was the real rust paint you used?

I really like the rear cage you made too and I was happy to see you cut down the rear fenders to match the fronts. Oh and way to re-purpose that barbecue!

This is gonna be good "thumbsup"

"thumbsup" I applied stage one of the rusting agent, sprayed 4 different colors intermittently all over the body, sanded that to get the weathering effect. I then sprayed a candy gold under a brown rust color and started working the body with wet sand 400 and 1200 grit. This step is done very slowly, sand and look, sand and look! I'm trying to get down to the rusting agent, but not going past it! Next I add more of stage one, let it dry and the spray some of the rusting accelerator on the whole body using a small paint brush to move it around to where I want it. "thumbsup"

So body update from what I started yesterday. So from this.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...5-IMG_1630.jpg

To this today.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...1-IMG_1642.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...2-IMG_1632.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...4-IMG_1634.jpg

Some pond shots to show the patina in the sun.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...5-IMG_1635.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...6-IMG_1636.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...7-IMG_1637.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...8-IMG_1638.jpg

I removed the front stock bumper mount and cut 1/4" from the frame and this allowed me to push the bumper back for better approach. I moved the front mount to the rear for better ascent.

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...9-IMG_1639.jpg

https://i1264.photobucket.com/albums...0-IMG_1641.jpg

You can see how the candy gold really adds patina to the brown!
I think this body with a little love really compliments the endure builders chassis.

Thanks for looking, next I need to figure out how I want to hinge the body in the rear.

Love the rust! Did you do light sanding to the body after the rust and coat it with a matte finish?
