transmission size

Hi,

Is somebody could make some pictures of the transmission of his Sendero next to an Axial AX10/SCX10 transmission, and give his dimensions ?

I would like to see if I could replace Axial transmission with it in my Hillkiller chassis ;-)

Appears to be the same bolt pattern, but the transmission is longer. I'll check tomorrow and try to remember to post pictures.

Here is what they look like side by side.

The main differences are the width and location of the outputs, the outputs on the Element transmission are raised up about 5mm higher from the skid plate and the output on the side opposite of the spur gear is much further out (towards the axle) than on a SCX transmission. They can be interchanged but your driveshaft angles and lengths will change.

The 2 inner most holes are the same on both the SCX and Element skids, the holes for the upper links are about 1mm off between the SCX and the Element, and the SCX skid doesn't have the outermost holes for mounting the Element side trays so those screws would need to be secured with lock nuts.

So, to extrapolate from these measurements... would the VS4-10 Chassis kit from Vanquish fit the Element transmission?

I've got an idea rolling around..."thumbsup"

I don't see why it wouldn't. I have actually been thinking about a VS4-10 chassis with TRX-4 axles and an Element transmission.

Should fit no problem.

I would guess it would fit even better with the transmission spacer removed from the VS4-10 skid.

Nice. I just ordered SSD Pro44 axles from a member here as well.

A mongrel-mutt build, for sure... they're always the ones with the best personalities!

"thumbsup"

(might convert them later with SSD portals)

What benefit is there to using the VS410 Chassis over other stock Chassis'?

Re: transmission size

It's likely the stiffest chassis out there, and has a built-in fuel cell at the back. But it's not necessarily the best, it's just an idea I am toying with. It's my favorite chassis, although the SSD is a close second. The SSD axles are my favorite axles. It follows that my ultimate build would be a mutt using a mixture of these parts. I may or may not go this route. I am going to drive it mostly stock first.
