Default Another element uncovered

Got my self a kit. Finally got it all assembled last night. Found out the caste motor I was going to use from another truck crapped out so instead this one will probably go brushed for awhile. I’m thinking of using the axial c10 body and trying my hand at some weathering techniques. Might see how far into the scale points I want to dive might shoot for a class 2 type rig.

Decided to try out some scx10.2 hubs on these axles...

Picked up the c10 body the other day. Trimmed it up and mocked it up. Bumpers just fit fully extended. Got it about as low as I can without completely going to deep into the body. Found my castle motor pooped out so snagged up a cheap 35t from the local shop for now until I find the Holmes 13t crawl masters come back in stock. Flipped the front ring gear around to fix my front reverse drive issue lol paint is next on the list to do but for what I want will probably take me the longest to do. Painting has never been my strong suite unless I’m bombing single colors

Yes it is. I made a couple for my scx10.2 a while back and wanted to see if one would fit. i originally designed it for this truck.

Anyway, that C10 body looks so right, you've pointed me in that direction for my next build.

Sorry only picture I had with the back of the truck off lol

On to today’s updates. I laid paint on the inside of the body. Going for the rust/sheetmetal look for when the paint does start to scrape off the outside. Sat and stared at the truck for awhile since it looked a little off. Pushed the front bumper back one hole. Flipped the rear bumper mount over and also slid that back one hole in the frame. Not sure how that will hold up over time might have to revisit that down the road. Last I noticed the sliders just looked to far back so since I’ve seen in another thread it’s not hard to slide those forward a bit. Drilled one hole in each side and they bolt right back up. I do have this bit of annoying (to me anyway) rake in the back. Needs to come down maybe another 1/4” but for now here’s where it’s at.

Thanks bud! I’m hoping for this one to look ages but we’ll see how well I can accomplish that. I’ve watched numerous videos and read some posts here so we’ll see how I do.

Default Another element uncovered

Outer paint is laid. Just a few weathering items need to show up before I can get to work.

So the 4.75” km3’s just looked to big to me so I got some new rubber for the truck. Back to one of my favorite tires I’ve run so far. Also may have got a little crazy with some acrylic washes on the body. Not exactly what I was shooting for might try to “fix” it tomorrow lol also probably hard to see in black and white but I’m not ready to reveal the color just yet.

More weathering before I leave for vacation. Won’t be able to touch this again until Monday or Tuesday

Ok so this was my first attempt at weathering a body so take it easy on me I’m pretty sure I went overboard on a few things but over all it’s growing on me. I still want to go over the wheels with some washes and a flat clear. The mirrors and door handles also need flat clear over them since I ran out. (Knew I should have bought two cans) well here it is out side. Little overcast today but the pictures seemed to have turned out pretty good.

Thanks guys few more details and it should be on the trail. On a side note are there any interiors I could look at fitting in this body. I don’t want to just drop a bomber interior in.

The unveiling of that paintjob did NOT disappoint!

Super-nice...

Love that grille, too!
