[QUOTE=Bertman82;5965846]I can't provide much other information about the Element, but the Raw Builders Kit is 15% off right now in most stores. $170 for that is a great deal.

15% off?!?!?!?!? Where??????

Yea I saw that. That’s what got me to this point. Wanted ar44 axles and they cost $140 plus a cms. New 10.2 chassis $170.

But do I keep the old deadbolt and build new or transfer parts? That is the problem. Looks like out of the box the trx4 and element are more capable rigs. I really don’t see the need to modify much on the new rigs. They have evolved. Other than making my own bumpers and maybe my own links if need be, weight in the tires they should be good to go

Where can I find a lexan Toyota cab like on the cross rc sg4. Want a truggy or honcho build. Not a big fan of the 85 hilux and don’t want the weight of a hard body.

Well........ The verdict is in . The Element is freaking awesome OOB.
We went crawling today at the Markham Crawler Course. I never took the SCX10IIout of my trunk. The wife crawled her Enduro behind my VS4 with VFD and she having one day previously crawling, matched my VS4!!!
No extra weight on hers, I’ve got brass knuckles on mine.Shes running VXTs on 2s Holmes13t , it’s a billy goat!!

She hit lines I wouldn’t have thought could work, Chassis ate it up.

This truck, lightweight budget build opened my jaded eyes today. With a rookie at the wheel!

As highly as you speak of it, without running the 10.2 back to back doesn't give any sort of comparison. To me, the biggest advantage I'm seeing with the Element is the overdriven front output on the transmission. I don't see anything else that would offer more capability over a 10.2. I think the Element trans and 10.2 axles (with overdrive gears in the front) sounds like a good combination, whichever chassis you decide to start with. Most economical way to get there might be to get the RBK, then spend the $50 or so on a complete Element trans that will bolt right up to the 10.2 skid.

Me? I wouldn't buy either. Just not different enough from everything else in my collection (I do have AR44's under other cars though) so I never got excited about them. I'd have considered a Trx4 sport kit, but then Axial dropped the Capra, which I bought to scratch the portal itch.

I wish I had known you and your wife were going to be at Markham, I would have made it a point to go down there as I only live 20 minutes north of Markham. Glad to hear the element did so well.

Big difference between my trucks is tire height and foams. My SCX10ii has taller tires and softer foams, it is also a heavyweight at 10#.

I wanted to see what the Enduro has, as a totally stock truck, with the 1080 and 13t crawlmaster. I think it’s turning and climbing was top shelf, very few struggles were noticed, and it hit some great lines. Next weeks outing , will be SCX10ii time, I had to run the new VFD.

Hang up and Drive

My 90% stock rtr enduro will follow pretty solidly modified scx10.2s on all the lines at my local courses, the elements just seem to work really well

It was a hard call to make. Went and got the 10.2 kit. I would have got the od gears for the front but they didn’t have any

Even when I walked into the store ready to get the 10.2 I still had second thoughts on the element. It came down too comfort. The 10.2 is basically the same rig as the 10.0. Axles are a plus ar44 is a much better design. Not to sure of the battery position in the 10.2 but will give it a try. My bumpers and skids will bolt right up and the pull deadbolt body will drop right on

Still for $170 I could have barely got the ar44’s and a cms

Going to go brushed on this. HW 1080 and a Holmes crawlmaster 550 or Trailmaster 550. Not sure wat the difference is in the 2 motors

Crawlmaster's are 5 slot, which equals smoother startup, a little less punch, a little less peak power, and a bit less drag brake.

Trailmaster's are 3 slot, not as smooth startup (still decent), a little more peak power, and definitely stronger drag brake.

I just put a 12t 550 Crawlmaster in yesterday and those were my findings compared to my 22t and 27t 550 Trailmasters. All on 3s and Hobbywing 1080's. If you're planning more technical driving and aren't going to build a 10lb car, I'd go Crawlmaster. If you do more trail work, are building heavy, or descent control (stronger drag brake) is a priority, get the Trailmaster.

SSD makes OD gears that attach with 6 bolts (standard uses 3) and a matching spool for about $35, I just bought some from RPP myself.

HH just released their 540 and 550 crawlmaster sport motors. Basically a regular crawlmaster but in a non rebuildable sealed case. Only 20 bucks so cheap to take one for a spin.

Great info. Will go with the crawlmaster sport 12t. I only run 2s. My scx10 has a 25.5 brushless that’s 1550kv so the 1700kv 12t should be fine. Good call

Got to do some research on the od gears. The ring gear and locker are one piece. Looks like I need a 6 bolt locker too. And I need to figure out what ratio to get

There's only 2 gear ratios available for the ar44's, stock 8/30 which is 3.75:1, and several manufacturers make "overdrive" 8/27 which is 3.375:1. Currently, I believe SSD has the only OD gearset available with 6 bolts, but Axial is supposed to have their's available soon. You will need a matching locker/spool too, but they're pretty cheap.

Gears (wow that first batch sold out quick!): https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ssd00349.htm
