The screws that attach the fender flares to the body are junk. I got one side done with the kit screws and decided to replace the hardware with something better. Luckily I had the screws I needed to do the job. For the end screws I used long screws (~14mm), and backed with nuts with Loc-Tite. Well, I think I am to the point that I can call the build done, and start in on testing. Shock tuning will be the most critical, with that heavy body on it the shocks are almost in a droop configuration, and the suspension is generally just too soft. So, I threw I ton of preload in and I will be changing out the oil to 40-45wt. Here is a video I shot going over the build and the body mounting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVmF9DuLl70 (The video starts in the middle, trying to figure out how to correct that) Here are some pics... Well, it looks like the forth time is the charm... After three prototype prints and a bunch of tweaking, my front fenders are complete... Initially I was going to have the whole mess be one piece, but after getting it on the truck, I did not like it. Although, I might go back to that design with engine detail in the middle. Not needing the front body post holes, one part of the the wells sits in those, and the front gets bolted on the chassis at the second front brace screw. Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr I have also done some design work on the front bumper. First, I have extended it out 4mm, this makes it look better with the body, and should provide better protection. Before... Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr After... Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr With this, I also change the design for the thumb screws that hold the front body mounts, I put in 3mm brass inserts. I was expecting that the PLA would hold up for a while, given that I was not cutting new threads each time, but I was taking it as a given that they would fail eventually. With this new design the thumb screws are secured into the brass. Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Last edited by Greatscott; 03-22-2020 at 07:22 PM. |

Just about done with this guy, just have to get it on the rocks and done some shock tuning... At the very least, with the sand ladders mounted, I think I have enough junk in my trunk... Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr I didn't like the mounts that were printed with these ladders, so I made my own... Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr I was going to go all out with a custom interior, but I think I am good with it, for now. Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr |

I wasn't liking how the servos looked, so I decided to add some engine detail to cover them up. This is just something quick I generated in Fusion, and not supposed to be an accurate representation of an actual engine, just engine-ish... It just slides over the two servos and has a little bit of friction holding it there. The air intake is about 3mm below the body, which will hold it in place on the trails... Man, the hardest thing about a build is that first scratch... With that done, here is some video of this truck on my crawler course... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc2Mpnvcn4k&t Here are some shots... I am still amazed by how tight this thing turns... Great build post. I have an Element build kit coming next week and I'm reading up on all the builds and videos I can find. I would like to see more of your crawler course. |

My crawling course is a bit small, but it scratches the itch where I don't want to go anywhere. If the weather would cooperate, I have some additions I am building on to it, but need weather good enough to set the concrete. | |

Great looking build! Bed details are nice, and the lighting system rocks! |

Nice build. I love seeing all the 3D printed stuff.

Other than the fenders that are built into the bed, no. I had a couple of ideas for putting some sort of a baffle in there, but it never came to fruition.

Got some new knuckles, solid brass, so they'll add a bit more weight up front. She was big-boned already, now a little more so. I am a bit disappointed with Associated. The kit build instructions are wrong, and they have you tighten down the knuckle collars all of the way, which cracks them. They have changed the instructions, but my kit had an older version. I contacted them about the issue, they responded promptly saying they'd send a new set out. Nothing ever arrived from them. So far my only complaint with these knuckles is not having an alignment tab, so you have to eyeball how they are clocked. It took me three eyeballs before I got them right. Very nice looking build! All of the 3D prints add a nice touch too it! You’ve done a great job on designing and printing! Major improvement with the brass chubs & knuckles! I too had to use a couple “eyeballing” to get the right clocking on mine! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Had it’s first comp today, the truck performed a lot better than the driver... The whole mess took a 25ft tumble down some rocks. Actually cracked where the A-pillar meets the roof on the driver’s side. A little CA and it should be fine. Gotta figure out what to use for a replacement windshield. Mirrors are gone too, knew they would be. Going to see if I can get rubber replacements, or just design and print them. I also need to go to a larger pinion. The top speed isn’t terrible, but it is lacking wheel speed. (3S). Untitled by Scott O, on Flickr by Scott O, on Flickr by Scott O, on Flickr |

Sorry to hear it crashed! Glad to see the pilots survived! That's too bad the windshield cracked! Hopefully it won't be too hard too replace. |

Not sure how I missed this build but looks really cool. Was wondering how that body would look on the Enduro. I ordered a truggy back half for mine and current plans are to separate the Trailwalker cab/bed and make a cab wall once I figure out the relationship with the truggy cage. Was hoping to find something light, not sure if I can find a similar object with a flat surface but if not I have very thin styrene sheet. Everything else on the truck holding up well? |
