Which 'hard' parts improve performance?
 

So I've bought my girlfriend an Enduro kit, with a nice Proline '92 Cherokee some bumpers etc... But I've read that it's quite a flexible chassis and adding some of the AE 'hard' range of parts helps, but nothing more specific than that.
For anyone running one of these trucks that's added some parts for performance, what did you get and what made the most differences?
Want to get everything ready for her for the initial build.

Fairly simple:
Hard servo mount, hard skid, hard battery brace and chassis brace. Add the battery brace to the rear end next to the chassis brace. I’d also look into the hard pay hard mount as well.

Thanks very much, that video is a good help :) think the essentials right off the bat will be shock mounts, servo mount and chassis braces.

Agreed. Everything else right out of the box is solid. Also switch the motor leads around to alleviate the reverse issue. Do some searching on the forum for the posts about that.

It's the kit version so it'll be set from the get go.
Something a little confusing, while searching, I have found the hard servo mount/skid, but it's black.
I thought all the hard range of products are grey?
The part number appears to match but the colour is throwing me off.

Yes, the option hard parts are all grey. Might just be the photo is discolored maybe? As long as the part number is good you should be alright. Will you be installing the higher OD gears also? I say that’s a must. Definitely helps a ton.

Well, it's listed as black too, but I've checked the part number on 4 different websites, 3 of them say hard, the other has very little info.
All black though, all the same part number.
Price seems right for a hard part too.
My part number is 42012 or ASC42012 for some sites.
I'm not sure on the OD, it will mostly be a trail truck with light crawling, so not sure she will benefit from more OD.
It's up to her completely though, I'm just buying it all, I will explain to her what OD actually does, the pros and cons (as I see them) and she can decide :mrgreen:

I ordered mine on ebay, looking back at the photo it does look black but when I got it in the mail it was grey. Must be something g funky with the stock photo.

I know this. That is the part I ordered and I got the grey one. It’s a stock photo that appears to be black but just make sure the part number is correct and you’ll be fine.

Thanks very much, definitely the same part number, I guess the site that listed it as black were just going off the picture.
It's RCmart, so HK based and sometimes the descriptions and pictures don't quite match.

I have found that the chassis braces are pretty easy to replace with PETG 3D printed units. I designed new ones for teh rear and under the battery tray. Printed them with 2.4mm walls and 45% infill, they are very rigid and have help reduce torque twist in the chassis. Am happy to make the STL files available if anyone wants them.

i'd be interested! Any idea how much someone would charge to print them? i don't have a printer but I'm sure there are folks who offer that service near me.

Get the STL files and upload them to JawsTec. They are much less expensive than shapeways and their turnaround time is also fast.

Regarding the rear chassis brace


Any scx10 rear Frame Brace will work for element enduro as well

In my case, I ordered the ST Racing Concepts Enduro Aluminum Rear Chassis Brace but then I realize that it wouldn't work for my custom enduro so I try using a cheap generic Aluminium Alloy Frame Brace and it fits perfect.

so al least for this part you can find cheaper options that fits well
