I tracked the stock fender flares with an exacto and then cut them out to get a nice shape and a bit more clearance. Still rubs, but I imagine the 4.19s would work with this level of trimming.

Another example of big tires and big cuts from James Tomlinson on Facebook.

Here is some poorly taped on TRX4 fender flares. Any thoughts? Could smuggle any tire you want under these...

They are to wide for my liking, but you could indeed run just about any tire you want with those flares.👍🏼

I also think the flares look too wide.

I tired those same rock beast on mine and they rub for sure. I saw someone stretch the stock 1.55s on a 1.9 and it looked decent. I might try that before buying new tires. We'll see.

*edit*
SSD 1.9s rub the steering knuckle.

Shamefully, I did not drive my Trailrunner until today, despite receiving it Wednesday. Wow! I also have two TRX-4s and a Capra and I am just impressed with out this rig runs. Great RTR low speed control, super quiet ESC, servo seems okay. I even like the feel of the transmitter. As I said before, I do have a Hobbywing 1080 and I may also get it paired up to a Futaba RX for my T4PM. But honestly?

I like it just fine RTR.

Also, as an update to the whole Rock Beasts under a Trailrunner: my idea of tracing and cutting the stock fender flares shape out worked okay, but they rubbed the rear of the front fender pretty badly. I will need to stretch that out. I could not get the front to articulate to the point of rubbing the top of the fender cutout - actually the springs seem a little too stiff and the nose just wants to pick up - but I also have no idea how to tune an IFS setup.

Roughing in the new bumper. Nothing like trimming lexan when there are no replacement bodies available!

Looking good Hodgy!

The more I’m seeing this body, the more I’m liking it!

Front end is looking good!

Looked at one at the hobby store on Saturday. Good looking. The suspension needs some tuning. The front shocks are too springy. There is quite a bit of front shock travel when compressed by hand but when I was doing a simulated flex you only get 50% shock travel. The rear shock oil maybe a little thick. Slow travel. You loose the servo winch Mount with ifs. But you get a front bumper for an external winch. Still good looking.

There is still a servo winch mount with the IFS kit, it lays flat on top of the servo mount plate.

Totally agreed, the front shocks are too stiff on the IFS, however the shocks are quite smooth and have not leaked as I have experienced in other RTRs.

Congrats! It looks good with the 4.45" Rock Beasts. Don't install those TRX-4 fender flares. They don't look good on this body. They are much too large. I don't think you need fender flares at all.

Where are all the trailrunner builds? I figure there would be at least a couple by now. I can't talk though, all I've done are wheels are tires

I love this thread. Thinking of getting one for my first RC. I drive a 4th gen 4Runner, white, hood scoop, in real life. This is so close!

How's the Trailrunner doing? Looking at getting one of these myself in the next couple of days. Looks like a great little rig.

I'm still trying to figure out the interest in IFS for a rock crawler. Not trying to be negative, genuinely curious. Just my "1:1" observations creeping into the hobby. Seems like IFS gets torched off for solid axles more often than vice-versa due to the simplicity, articulation, and strength. IFS always seemed like a go fast thing to me. If I had to make up a reason it would be "because it is different". Interested in thoughts on it.
