Been super busy of late. Having work done on my house, adopted some new dogs, traveling, dealing with a arthritis flare up in my shoulder/elbow, and building a No Prep car. So I haven't messed with my crawlers for about a month! But our LHS is finally crawling out of their Covid basement and hosting an event, so I had to get the Minion back together. Still looking to lighten the Minion, so I ordered a set of Samix Titanium high clearance links, got them installed, and I also replaced the metal gears in the Steath X Transmission with the plastic gears to save even more weight! Got it down to 4lbs 11.6ozs! I think lighter wheels are in my future. More to come... Last edited by dezfan; 09-24-2020 at 07:41 PM. |

That last pic there really shows its shape. Its super neat. The light weight approach piques my curiosity. Slid back on some pitches today that had me wondering about weight

Great build..Thinking about grabbing one of these chassis..I run saddle packs on the sliders of all my rigs..I like the balance along with the LCG that it offers Just an FYi..When you run lipos in parallel, only the mah capacity doubles. The C rating remains the same Last edited by xv-townboy; 09-24-2020 at 08:16 PM. |

It’s small, light, affordable, and you don’t see many on the rocks! Quote:
I’m loving the small saddle pack batteries. They are almost a must on this build. Don’t have much space for a larger pack without running into balance issues. Appreciate the input on the Lipos. 👍🏼

If you do come up with some lighter wheels and they aren't a well known wheels could you please add them to my list here: 2020 Lesser Known Wheel List My Harvester ended up in the low 6 lb range and it does really well, I cant even imagine how much better a 4-ish pound version would be

| Re: •••The Minion••• Great build, that's a great body! I would be curious to know if the trade off ends up being a good one, as lighter wheels will make it climb better. But all else being equal, the CG will end up higher, thus hurting side-hilling ability.

One it would reduce rotating mass thus further decreasing line train strain And in turn increase performance. And second (and more importantly) it wood allow me to run knuckle weights without much (if any) increase in the over all weight of the rig. That would allow me to place the weights whee it would be the most advantageous to me. We’ll see if my theory holds true.👍🏼

Been working on The Minion this week and we decided to head out to our favorite crawl spot (CRATER NATION.) for a shake down run before next weeks event. This line is called Jetro’s crack (A line to the left, B line to the right) B Line is the one we are crawling. Very steep and off camber. But the Minion and the Cheater rig both beat it today. Little harder than normal due to the temps, thankfully the sun was beating down on it! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2232...6005823154751/ |

Did that 3D printed cat ever go through? If so, how’s it holding up? I have been thinking about printing a cage for my rig, but don’t think 3D printing will be strong enough. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Its holding up just fine, I have 2 cages that I've printed. your mileage may vary though, I dont let my rigs just tumble down hills so that helps. Print orientation plays a role here too so I like to break the parts up so I can print parts horizontally when possible. Also if I want something stronger I have it printed in SLS Nylon (I use Jawstec). Last edited by HumboldtEF; 12-27-2020 at 11:36 AM.

I imagine they are printed out of PETG or ABS right? When you break them up, do you screw the pieces together? I try and not let my rig tumble, but it definitely does happen and there’s nothing you can do sometimes lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Great build, I really like the 'saddle pack' battery setup. I bet that helps side hilling, being much more balanced side to side. Awesome work getting it under 5lbs, that's nice and light! |

It’s a great way to run the smaller packs and still get decent run times as well. Balance it good, and it help my OCD.🤣
