Default Trailrunner with lights, clear "glass", interior, etc?

Hey all! I love the look of this kit but I would love it more with working head and tail lights and clear "glass" and with an interior. Anyone here working towards this? Also, a question on overdrive. Does it have different versions, and how hard is it to change, what did you go with? Any problems with the RTR?

I can speak on the overdrive. It comes with ~6% overdrive to the front stock. It also comes with optional gears for ~11% percent overdrive. The overdrive is in the transmission, and takes 4 screws to remove the transmission. Another 4 screws to open the transmission then it’s just changing the gears from there.

Nice so does that mean the front turns 6% faster than the rears? And why is that desirable or beneficial?

Yes that is correct. It helps with climbs and descends. As far as I understand, it helps the truck pull itself over the rocks on climbs. And stabilizes the truck on descends.

Just be aware more overdrive does put more stress on the truck when on high traction though.

Honestly, I am still quite new to the crawler scene myself.

I just got a Trailwalker last month. Really sweet and the overdrive you can see it help climb. I did stripped the servo arm. So I got a new "better" 25 kg sevro and 2 aluminum arms from amazon for $20. Just the arms are like $10. The servo is really nice for the price. The only thing is that my shocks are leaking. There is oil on all 4 the bottom end links. I guess I could contact TA? They all ways had the best shocks. The arm so what. The shocks I know the can be rebuilt just a small set back.

When you rebuild the shocks, use some green slim on the o-rings. Helps out a lot. My kit shocks aren’t leaking at all yet.

Clear windows and interior is easy enough.

Working headlights and tail lights on my rig...

Using Knight Customs light buckets with a Redcat LED light kit. Clearing the lights was rough. Ended up using a dremel with a buffing wheel dipped in non-acetonal nail polish remover. I'm fairly certain the NPR didn't do anything and it was just the friction that removed the paint.

Upon checking with a friend that was an engineer for AE, it was confirmed that no chemical will take off the factory paint without damaging the lexan.

In the end, the result is not one im really happy with. But for now, it will do. The only true method is to start with a clear body and go from there.

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/finis...onate-cleaner/

I forget where I sourced this from but this works well for removing paint and clearing up windows. It still takes a fair bit of elbow grease and likley does some damage but It doesn't fog the lexan.

I masked off the windows from the inside so when I was rubbing the paint away it was only where I intended.

Did you try this on the element's paint? I would think the paint is definitely a lot more difficult than the frosted windows?

I used the Tamiya polycarbonate cleaner to clear out the windows on the RedCat Gen8. Works good.

Sorry, I only tested this on Tamiya paints and the Redcat Gen 8.

The window frost is just a decal, pretty easy to trim around to cut out and keep the window trim if you take your time.

But that stuff Casey posted is clutch, will help cleaning the headlight and taillight area for sure.

Rc nitro fuel also works I’ve heard.
