Phildirt, as far as steering pull/drift. My RTR pulled to the right or left, I couldn’t adjust it out with steering trim. Always going one way or the other, no sweet spot.

In looking closer I found the steering ling was a fraction off, too short and not allowing the left and right spindle alignment to be totally perpendicular. Make sense? You may have already looked at this link and hub alignment.

I also hope the steel pivot balls will “tighten” the links, steering and servo up some reducing play and lead to straighter tracking.

Hope this helps.

Got to try out my updates today.

Like the 12% OD it does pull better. The LCG skid/transmission mount I’m sure also helped.

It wasn’t tracking straight so I rechecked all the front link lengths and found one off spec length. Corrected this and with the addition of metal pivot balls it tracks better.

I changed all the plastic pivot balls out and the suspension feels tighter and more composed.

Climbed some and also did a 1/4 mile up and back trail run. On the longer trail sections I didn’t notice any ill affects from the OD increase.

I’m happy!

I have SSD Pro44s with Vanquish incision steering links, they are adjusted right. I still think it’s the front wheels turning faster than the rear that causes the wandering. The Enduro axle/linkage steers straight as an arrow on my 10ii and the chassis are virtually identical, only thing different is the transmission at this point. I am going to put my ax10 transmission on my Enduro for grins just to see if it quits doing it.

What model is your truck? I’m a newbie and would love to get back into RC. Thank you.

Element RC Enduro Trailwalker.

https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/asc40101.htm

https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/asc40101-b.htm

Good solid truck.

Also good is the Traxxas TRX4 Sport

https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/tra82024-4-blue.htm

And the Axial SCX10 II Honcho

https://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax90059.htm

All are good trucks to start with and each has a lot of aftermarket and modification tips out there.......

There are more expensive kits/RTR’s out there but these are proven designs which can be upgraded if you choose, but are quite capable right out of the box.

I’d go with the 10ii Cherokee over the Honcho. It’s a little more coin but you get metal links, universal axles, metal trans gears, I believe the other version of the ar44 (not the single piece) and maybe even a better transmitter I can’t remember. There’s a reason most of the 10ii gallery is pics of Cherokees. The Honcho is cooler looking though.

True and probably a better value than the Honcho......if he goes Axial.

Ok. My first attempt at body trimming..........don’t look too close!

Needed to trim to fit the Vanquish rear bumper.

Share the results on that motor swap. I have a 23t sport I was going to swap in but I think it is the trail master. Thought 12t would be a little fast but I know that varies by motor...What pinion gear are you using?

Staying with stock gearing per Holmes Hobby recommendation for now.

Will see how it performs.

Well ....... I didn’t install any of the new parts.

I ran the heck out of it instead. Met two other crawlers at the lake. Had a blast.

She has a lot more scapes and scratches, but she held her own against a VS 410 and new 10.3 Gladiator.

With the 4.19’s there were a few obstacles she couldn’t overcome. But all in all the balance is great and with 3S power she pulls!

Sunday evening rig cleaning time.....found some new scrapes and some rear bed damage.

While cleaning changed out to harder shock mounts.

I know this isn’t Comp quality stuff, but it’s just my simple trail/crawling truck.

I’m thinking some mesh drywall tape and shoogoo to reinforce the rear bar mounting points. Any other ideas?

Ok....finally got a chance to drop in the Holmes 550 12T, the MKS servo and the SC480X ESC.

Only ran in around the house but I really like the changes.

Faster steering, smoother motor and more control.

Really like these latest changes. I think that’s it for know with the Trailwalker. I have it where I want it. It’s a nice class one rig.

I’ve got a new kit to build a class two truck.

Some pics on the run after the last upgrades....

Got to crawl the TrailWalker Saturday!

A fun charity comp and crawl for a local animal shelter.

After running my other truck in a comp that day I was surprised at how quiet the Element drive train still is after hours of run time.

I hadn’t run it back to back with other trucks in a while and had forgotten how quiet and smooth the truck runs.

Still a great trail truck!

I agree with you. I ended up selling both of my TW’s and kind of miss them... incredibly capable out of the box.

I got a deal on a winch over th3 holiday weekend. Reefs RC 299 LP. Installed it on the TrailWalker……….

I also bought inner fenders and a Bomber interior.

I plan on going thru the truck and making some updates.
