| KK high clearance tie-rod vs. CKRC OTA tie-rod vs. ??
I can't seem to decide what type of steering setup to go with on my Berg... but after a little time on the rocks it's clear that my stock tie-rod sucks. It's limiting the steering by hitting the gear case before I reach full lock, and it's banging into every rock. A lot of guys around here run the CKRC tie rod, but most say that it leaves the servo horn open to getting broken/bent often.... A few guys have suggested the KK tie-rod, looks like a pretty good setup. I like that it uses revo rod ends instead of the axial ends that the CKRC tie-rod uses. Though, I'm not sure if it will fit my Axial aluminum knuckles. It also looks to have slightly less clearance, though being made of Delrin I'm guessing it slides well on the rocks.... I would jump on Yotachump's CDW OTA steering kit, but it won't work with my 20* clocked front axle. Any tips, suggestions, advice? basically I'm looking for something high clearance, reliable and strong that will give me as much steering as possible. Thanks. |

yotachumps steering system is worth a look, seems like one of the cleanest out at the moment. I'd get it if mine didnt work or even if I had the extra loot not what you asked but just my 2 cents Last edited by Rocksolo; 04-10-2009 at 05:05 PM. Reason: oh yeah, clocked axle....scratch that. |

I am using Kamikaze's steering with Axial knuckles with no problems. Just had to shorten it slightly because of the angle of the Axial parts. I put it in the inner hole and cut the outer hole off the knuckles. The KK steering arm actually guards my servo horn. It is slick and has never gave me any trouble with hanging on the rocks.

brandon ..use a robitronics servo horn no matter what set up you run. you won't bend or break that one! i ran the ckrc set up until i changed it. you can check out my steering that "special person " made for me |

Just run the CKRC sterring for right know. Let me know if you want to i have one more left it works great. Now if we can get Mr Chump to make a steering kit for a 20* or 30* then i would say use his but for now CKRC is the best.

| The black one is before, the white is after. The throw is the same, moving the hole back and out changes the geometry of the steering so you get full lock from both tires at the same time. I don't think any one else can claim that. That and its cheap. |

This is an area of my truck that I feel is a weak point that I have not adressed yet. It will be comming soon, but right now I am running kamikazes tie rod with some ghetto arse rod ends that make it almost too long and I still get O.K steering

the behind the axle kits are great, but I do not think they really help all that much. The simplicity of the KK steering works 98% as well, and does not have as many parts that could cause trouble.

Then they should have contacted me to get it replaced. I have sold a ton of them, and have only replaced one. I would figure if someone broke something that had a free replacement that was only one email away they would do it..... | |

As a mater of fact, I have never had a replacement where someone claimed they pulled the threads out. There is 100% thread depth in all the links and tie rods I sell. You would have to tear the rod end up pretty bad to pull the threads out, especially since there is more thread in the delrin then there is in the rod end. I'm calling bs....
