Default Berg knuckles vs AX10 knuckles

I see that SDS Customz Super 300 CVDs for the Berg comes in two forms, one for Berg knuckles and one for Axial (AX10) knuckles. When and why do people use Axial knuckles? For zero ackermann?

What's the physical differences between the two CVD's? I'm planning a custom build out of possibly Berg or HR axles or both, so this info would help me greatly.

Thanks.

Btw, I searched.

The Axial version was made to fit the Axial AX10 axles. That is why these are offered to fit both sets of knuckles.

If you are going to run Berg axles, just get the Berg knuckle style of CVDs.

Before VP made high steer berg k's, only the axial fit version was available. I believe the difference is the OD's on the stub shaft, If someone could chime in to confirm.

The Stock Berg and Axial knuckles are diferent, the arms that hold the knuckle onto the C (where the bushings fit in) are longer, which puts the inner bearing farther away from the C. Not sure of the exact difference in measurement, but it's roughly around .02"

Nope....there are three versions....one for the Axial axles......and two for the berg axles (one for stock berg knuckles, one for axial knuckles).

Thanks,
Just to make sure I'm getting this right, it's the Berg that has the longer arms and not the AX10?

Edit: realised I described something totally wrong earlier. Nevermind that.

Ah yes...of course...for those that want to use the Axial knuckles with Berg axles.

Learn something new every day.

So, if I'm building a new Berg, and I want zero ackermann, I would choose
- Super 300s for Berg with axial knuckles
- VP zero ackermann AX10 knuckles or similar
- Axial offset wheels

If I want to run Berg offset wheels for narrower width, less scrub radius, I'd get...
- Super 300s for Berg
- VP high steer Berg knuckles or similar
- Berg offset wheels

Does this sound about right?

The difference between the berg k's and ax k's is from the king pin to the inner stub axle bearing and is very minamal. You won't see any difference in track width. In fact I'm running vp berg k's on my ax-10 now with no problems and maybe a touch better steering radious. Hope that helps

It's exactly a 1mm difference. VP Axial knuckles on Berg axles will give you a 2 mm narrower track width, but you'd need the Super 300s for Berg/Axial combo or sub 3mm wide inner knuckle bearings for the 4mm wide standard parts.
