Default BJ V4 rear shock mount problem

i have almost finished my build of a ytc bj v4 using berg axles but whats stopping me is when i mount the top of my 4" losi shock to the inner part of the chassis at the stock locations, my spring or threaded nut will hit the outer chassis during articution and greatly limit its movement, only half of what im getting up front or less. I've tried multiple spacer sizes and tried flipping the shock. nothing is working. Pease someone guide this green horn down the right path!!!!!

You need to limit the shocks.

It is supposed to do that it acts as a shock limiter since most new builders do not know how to or want to limit the shocks.

they are all correct, the shocks do need to be limited.

Default thanks for the info

thanks guys for all the info. i can't seem to get my cam to work for some reason, i would love to post some pics of my setup. i do realize the shocks need limited, but right now the rear axle may move up a quarter of an inch from flat before it hits the outer part of the chassis. to me thats just way to limited. has anyone ever tried to put 80mm shocks on instead and attach them to the chassis in the very back where the last chassis brace is connected? i tried this already with the 4" losi shocks and i get loads of articulation but the stance is way to tall.

Another thing to consider is the amount of clocking that you have? If you rock the tubes back a lot, then that will change the geometry of the rear shocks quite a bit.

Lower link length will make a difference. I have been playing with this for a week now and I finally have it working the way I like it too. I will update this post with link lengths that I am using when I get home. Keep in mind what works for one person may not be the way you like yours setup.

Are you spacing the shocks out at the chassis at all? I have to come out to get a better clearance and clean working shock without the binding.

Spacing the shocks is needed for sure. My setup is super smooth and bind free.

Front upper links: 115mm

Rear lower links: 127mm
Rear upper links: 133mm

All of these measurements are eye to eye. My front uppers could stand to be a little longer IMO

On the rear of my truck, I space them out with a Traxxas rod end inside the shock end and a JND cone spacer. Works perfectly. I am running Kyosho shocks.

This sounds the most probable cause. If the shocks are rolled back with the axle then you`ve already lost some of the movement.

Upper links go on the outside of the chassis.

Yup like Binary said the upper links need to be mounted outside of the chassis plates. Also, are you running a 60/40 setup? The rear shocks need to be stood up some more.
