Thanks Christian. No on the jig. I mounted them in the vice on a parallel, zeroed from one side with a 2mm pin guage mounted in the drill chuck (Albrecht), scrolled over to 0.5x diameter of the polished bearing seat plus ~0.039", center drilled a shallow divot then sank it. A jig will be a must if I make more though.

Nice work btw
Thanks Hulksta. Not sure why your wheel nuts come loose. Try Loctite 246 and coat the axle and the inside of the nut (use a needle to spread it around to get it deep into all of the nut threads). Let them sit for an hour then assemble. They won't come loose any more. Repeat before each comp.

Thanks Farmer. Hate to disappoint you and Helhedded but no plans to go blue yet. I need to make sure these things hold up first.

Yes, aircraft grade steel alloy E4340, AMS2301 compliant. One step shy of 300M. If these fail, I'm there.

Default Awesome radio/crawler travel Storm cases by Pelican

Hey all,

In the market for a $45 case for your 4PK that I guarantee you can't hurt? It's waterproof too. The Storm iM2075 fits a 4PK (antenna removed) perfectly. I It's smaller in every dimension and lighter than a Futaba case. Paystin could sling this a country mile after bombing a comp and it would survive no problem. I got a 2600 case that holds my rig (no shell), DC supply, charger soldering iron and dremmel. It's bomb proof too. For the money you can't beat these things. Each case has two padlock points as well. Foam is included if you like and it's perforated so that it comes out in little blocks. I removed my 4PK antenna and covered the peg with a custom delrin cover and the rig runs fine without the antenna. Once you feel one of these cases you'll know what I mean when I say they are overkill beefy.
Joel

Default Ghetto millin' flashback pics

I ran across these pics the other day...cellphone shots of some classic ghetto millin' from back in the day (8/26/10). These were my first attempts at lead knuckle weights cast from melted fishing weights. Yes, the wheel had to be aligned with them durning They were a heinous painus in the anus. I even made some V2s later being the knucklehead that I am. I do miss something about ghetto millin'...but I ain't goin' back!

All ya need now is a sexy new lid to go with your badass berg.

Seriously man...buy an XR and start makin cool stuff for MY rig. That'd be WAY cheaper than havin to build a berg...at least for ME it would be.

Default Mill table fab

Came across some shots I took of my mill table build. Picked up steel from IMS (that place rocks) hauled it home in my 3500HD Civic, ran new 220V circuit, designed and cut the pieces then had a friend up the street glue it together for me at his place. Presto!!...mill table. Luckily there is no humidity in SD so I didn't have to coat it with anything aside from all of the oil running off of the mill. Leveled it with some adjustable screw feet from McMaster. That block hoist had it's hands full I tell you.

There you are OBD! I figured that one would pull you out of the shadows. Sorry you won't be there this weekend. Guess you'll have to try to win your $5 back some other time.

This was the first machine tool I ever laid eyes on in person. I read the book that came with it, tossed the CD and got to work. 8 months later homemade rig got me in the 2.2 finals at 2011 Nats. Do work.
